The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has learnt that more than a week following a mass shooting in eNsimbini, Mayville that left five people dead and seven injured, no arrests have been made.

We have since written to KZN Police Commissioner, Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, to request that this case is treated with the urgency that it deserves. It cannot be business as usual when members of the community are killed in this manner.

The picnic set up is ready for the public memorial service of Cllr Christo Botha, our departed Deputy Mayor of uMhlathuze, at Alkantstrand Beach-Richards Bay. The DA KZN delegation is led by the Provincial Leader, Sithembiso Ngema.

Also present is the Mayor of the City of uMhlathuze Cllr Xolani Ngwezi, Municipal Managers and Entertainers.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) welcomes the intervention by Provincial Treasury – under the leadership of 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗘𝗖, 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 – to secure a R2billion advance from National Treasury to ensure that schools across the province receive critical norms and standards payments.

This morning, the DA KZN staged a protest against the proposed eThekwini budget and tariff increases outside the Durban ICC this morning, saying “NO TO INCREASES!”

This is the DA’s eThekwini Caucus initiative.

Only the DA that continues to stand with the residents of eThekwini.
