I hope the “relaxing of the lockdown” means people can start putting their businesses, and their lives, and those of their employees back together again. In whatever way possible.

IT'S TIME TO GET STUBBORN

We know times are tough. Between the COVID pandemic and the economy, the fat cats and the crackpots, very little seems to be going right these days.

Our family have been the stewards of Pearl Mountain since 1873 and since then we've had our share of run-ins with bank-managers and droughts, and even with each other. Our forebears fought in the First and Second Boer Wars (on both sides). Our grandfather, Dawie Retief, chased the N***s around North Africa. Our parents resisted apartheid and we celebrated the dawn of democracy. As we have come to know better, we have also tried to do better. Retief is a french name, and it means rebellious, tenacious, or stubborn. Now more than ever, we're all going to need a bit of stubbornness, because some things are worth fighting for.

We are excited to announce the release of our 2020 range, just in time for Level 3! We know that times are tough so we're offering 20% off all our wines until close of business on Thursday 11 June, 2020.

We've made some exciting changes over the last few years and we think our 15th vintage is our best one yet. To go along with our new wine-making philosophy, we're rolling out a redesigned look. This year we're also releasing our first natural-style wine, the Flight of the Drongo 2019 Grenache, as well as a 2018 Special Late Harvest.
