Demolition work is currently underway at the southwest corner of Rembrandt Mall, Paarl, to make way for a new parking area.

To ensure strict safety compliance during the removal of the external wall, a section of Berg River Street will be closed on Thursday, 18 June 2026, from 08:30 to 15:00.

With our local economy projected to reach R36.8 billion by 2026, we are creating
pathways into growing sectors like agro-processing, hospitality and finance. We
recently partnered with Elgin Community College to enrol 75 unemployed youth in
accredited learnerships for Environmental Practice and New Venture Creation. We also
combat youth unemployment through structured internships and Law Enforcement
training for young adults aged 18 to 35. ​

𝗔 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆

Drakenstein Municipality brought joy and inspiration to the Saron Sports Field this Youth Day, where around 500 children and young people gathered for a day filled with fun.

With the support of Law Enforcement, the South African Police Service, the local Community Police Forum and the Community in Blue, the event created a safe space for young people to play and dream big.
From exciting games to the highlight of the day – a colourful, energy‑packed Colour Run – the celebration was a true showcase of partnership and care.

Every participant enjoyed a warm meal and a party pack, reminding us that in Drakenstein, no child is left behind.

More than just a day of fun, the event empowered youth to stay off the streets and choose positive paths forward.

Drakenstein Municipality’s Electro‑Technical Engineering team is investigating an unplanned power outage affecting Nieuwe Drift (Ward 3).

At this stage, the estimated restoration time is not yet known.
