For 26 years, Rob and Petrina Visser have built Dalewood Fromage a closed Jersey herd and regenerative farming, from the pastures the cows graze to the cheese on the shelf. It paid off: their Boland® and Simond™ cheeses both won Super Gold at the
2025 World Cheese Awards in Switzerland, and head cheesemaker Nellie Fischer took home Best Female Cheesemaker.​

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Drakenstein Municipality's teams have been responding to several weather-related incidents reported since Thursday, including overnight storm and wind damage across the municipal area.

𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀

* Bainskloof Pass is closed.
* Du Toitskloof Pass is closed to all vehicles.
* The Huguenot Tunnel is open to light vehicles only.

Residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel where possible.

𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

The following areas are currently experiencing electricity disruptions:
* Ward 25: Hawequa Nature Reserve and surrounding areas
* Ward 28: Cape Food Processors and Stillerust Farm
* Ward 32: Burning Sky Street, Fairyland
* Ward 29: St. Omar, De Uitsig and Varswater Kloof farms
* Ward 33: Keerweder and Mineral Springs farms

Our Electro-Technical Engineering teams are attending to the outages in Wards 25, 28, 29 and 33.

In Ward 32, illegal electricity connections have been identified. The ward councillor is engaging with affected residents to facilitate the removal of the illegal wiring before electricity can be safely restored.

Municipal teams will continue with assessments and repair work throughout the day and into next week where required.

Drakenstein Municipality’s Electro-Technical Engineering teams are currently attending to unplanned electricity disruptions in the following areas:

Ward 17: R45, Nieuwedrift area, De Vrede Farm, Vryheid Farm and surrounds.

Ward 23: Lustigan and Carolina Roads, Amstel Farm, Bergenzicht Estate and surrounds.

We thank affected residents for their patience and understanding as our teams work to restore electricity as quickly as possible.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: 𝗕𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀

Drakenstein Municipality advises motorists that Bainskloof Pass is currently closed to all traffic due to tree branches obstructing the roadway.

𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀:

*Cape Town to Worcester*: Wellington → Gouda → Tulbagh → Wolseley → R46 → N1 → Worcester.

*Worcester to Cape Town*: R46 → Wolseley → Tulbagh → Gouda → Wellington → Cape Town.

Huguenot Tunnel and Du Toitskloof Pass remain closed to all vehicles due to windy conditions.

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution, avoid closed routes, follow the instructions of traffic officials and allow additional travel time.
