The National Department of Tourism is embarking on a 12 months programme to recruit, train, capacitate and deploy 600 unemployed youth (2 per local municipality) in all 257 municipalities across the country. The primary objective of this programme is to collect Tourism related data needed to understand the tourism footprint and to build a National System that will host content for the entire tourism sector. This training initiative will equip youth with skills to collect essential and quality data on tourism businesses, services and products which is fit for use, analysis and dissemination. Moreover, this project is aimed at capacitating unemployed youth with skills necessary for future employment and entrepreneurial prospects.
In partnership with the Department of Labour, the Department of Tourism is responsible for recruiting youth, and is committed to recruiting and deploying young people from their respective local municipalities. In this regard, the Department of Tourism kindly requests a list (database) of unemployed graduates from your local municipality, who have never participated in learnership, internship and EPWP programmes. The unemployed youth should meet the following criteria:
•South African citizens
•Between 18 and 35 years of age
•Should at least be in a possession of a minimum NQF level 4 Qualification ( or Degree, National Diploma, Higher Certificate) in the following tourism and related fields:
1. Hospitality,
2. Hotel Management
3. Food Management
4. Travel Management
5. Any Qualification that Has "Tourism" as part of its Name
6. Restaurant Management
7. Events Management
8. Mathematics,
9. Economics
10. Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, Informatics, Information Systems
11. Public Relations
12. Marketing
13. Statistics
14. Human Resource Management
15. Business Administration
16. Municipal Management
