The acquisition of another fleet asset, a cherry picker, will strengthen the electricity department’s capacity to respond to challenges, maintain infrastructure and improve electricity services across Ngwathe.

ANC-LED GOVERNMENT INVESTING IN AGRICULTURE AND OUR COMMUNITIES

The ANC-led government in Ngwathe Local Municipality continues to strengthen agriculture, support local initiatives and create meaningful opportunities for our communities, particularly the youth.

Today in Koppies, MEC Elzabe Rockman, responsible for Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs in the Free State, engaged with Matikoane Seroto Corporation as they joined efforts to assist communities affected by the recent disaster.

Through their agricultural work and the fruits of their labour, Matikoane Seroto Corporation gave back to affected families and communities, demonstrating the important role that agriculture can play in supporting communities during times of need.

This is what investment in our people looks like. Supporting agriculture means strengthening food security, growing local economies, creating opportunities and building a sustainable future for the next generation.

The ANC remains committed to working with communities, supporting agricultural development and ensuring that our young people have opportunities to participate meaningfully in the economy.

ANC-LED GOVERNMENT RESPONDS TO KOPPIES HAILSTORM-AFFECTED FAMILIES

Today, the ANC-led government in Ngwathe Local Municipality, together with various stakeholders, came together in Koppies to provide humanitarian relief to families affected by the devastating hailstorm disaster that struck the area.

The programme brought together MEC Rockman, Ngwathe Municipal Manager Dr F.P. Mothamaha, Ngwathe Administrator Dr S. Motingoe, and Director of Community Services Mrs Mojabeng Makibinyane, alongside the South African Red Cross Society (SARCS), Disaster Management, Ngwathe Disaster Response Volunteers, Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and other stakeholders.

A total of 85 affected households were beneficiaries of today's humanitarian relief, receiving groceries, blankets and other essential items to assist them in recovering from the impact of the disaster.

The ANC-led government, through the municipality and in partnership with provincial departments and stakeholders, remains committed to ensuring that no community is left behind, particularly during times of crisis.

This is what responsive, caring and people-centred government looks like — working together to bring relief, restore hope and support our communities.
