Political Accountability

The Election Committee, under the stewardship of Mothobisi, has unfortunately descended into a spectacle that makes a mockery of democratic processes. Candidates with demonstrable support from the student body are being arbitrarily removed, discarded as though the electorate’s mandate carries no weight.

We are equally aware of the political interests and individuals exerting influence behind the scenes to engineer outcomes favorable to particular factions. This is no longer merely an electoral dispute; it is a question of institutional integrity, procedural fairness, and the credibility of student democracy.

Over the weekend, strategic student accommodations and constituencies will be visited as part of a peaceful mobilisation drive, engaging students and organised forces that understand the long-term dangers posed by the precedent the ELC is setting. We will ensure that those who understand the importance of due process, democratic accountability, and the integrity of student elect.

The quietness of Crisselda Dotwana as Director of students affairs Under Qwaqwa campus regarding these matters speaks volume and alarming at the same time. It clearly indicates she's directly linked to this purging process and financially benefitting from all these shenanigans.

♦️EFFYC Qwaqwa campus decisive posture on gross negligence and political purging of candidates at the University of the Free state.♦️

The EFFYC Qq and progressive ground forces note with disgust the maintained and recurring gross and deliberate political purging at UFS carefully oechastred by Mbalane and his cabal of Xhosas Dotwana and others.

The UFS student affairs has been decisively micro managing electoral procesd of SRC through the appointed ELC company KDBS, and it's now a norm to remove candidates through the selective interpretation of the ISRC constitution in order to eliminate legitimate leadership that fights for the rights and restoring of black students dignity.

We, as the EFFYC, call for unity and condemn this prevailing behavior of political purging to come to an end,it is a filibuster and strategy to reproduce a hostile and inhumane system and further dehumanize the well-being of students.

As wa writing out our frustrations today the president of SASCO who emerged with our right majority has been removed, we had warned opposing political organizations from the start that this system must be met with the same arrogance , a Clarion call of unity is again being made we must challenge the agenda of capitalist that is preented to us that masquerades as rules and procedures.

This idea was rejected since it was not bleeding them up until now. We reiterate our stance that universities are never neutral and it won't start today, they function as an ideological state apparatus used as legal mechanism to destroy and crush student activism and maintain the status quo of further marginalized black people.

Therefore, we declare that an unprecedented demonstration of a similar scale to that of October is currently in motion. Rest assured we will do what we know best, in defense of the constitutional right of a black poor child. Even DHET as a statute recognizes the right for students to elect src democratically without political purging.

We declare no inauguration will proceed under this abnormal situation until the cooption of candidates comes to an end.

They'll need more and serious deployments of bouncers to stop an idea whose time has come.

♦️ Immediate Release♦️

As per our previous commitment regarding the monopolization of SRC elections that were meant to be fair and democratic by students affairs, particularly Dr Mbalane , Mthizozo Hlasho, and the susceptible ELC who attempted to trade them as their personal entity, we have escalated the issue to high court ,in Bloemfontein.

The hearing of this interdict will sit today (Sartuday) at 09:00Am , in the Bloemfontein high court.
We reteirate our stance that no amount of dirt thrown to EFFYC will stop an idea whose time has come, the alleged brown envelope received by the elections committee must be returned back and all those who've ate from this corruption must vomit .

We therefore call upon all masses affected within close proximity to attend in numbers and demonstrate that dirtiness and Maladmisntration has no place.

♦️ Immediately Release♦️

As the voice of the voiceless, we're utter disgruntled by the action of ELC along with Student Affairs of excluding Mostly Education students whom are currently doing 3rd, final years and postgraduate to contest in 2026/27 CSRC elections.

This comes from the misinterpretation of ISRC constitution section 12.8 where by students are required to have 60% passed modules average and 75-80% for past 2 semesters. These students currently don't have marks for semester 1 (2026) due to the fact that they're doing year modules and marks will be released at the end of the year.

In this situation these students are currently full registered and they meet all requirements based on ISRC constitution and as they don't have marks for semester 1(2026) their average of 60% and 75-80% should be counted using 2025 marks, and this has been happening like that since the amendment of this constitution 2024.

We know this is a deliberate strategy for ELC along with these clowns of Student affairs to exclude capable leaders that will challenge them and fight for students accordingly to their satisfaction. They treat the constitution like their relationship rules where by they can wake up and change it after morning glory.

We call upon this bogus KDBS company along with its chairperson who is a puppet of management to futseg!! they must leave with immediate effect!!! Even 2025 there were a lot of discrepancies after this company took over, these elections are no longer democratic and fair to the student populace since the arrival of these lumpens.

We're very aware that some individuals received brown envelopes to run these elections nonsensical like this and we'll soon mention those names and pictures in public frealessly so!!!

Our stance is very clear that no elections will proceed until all deserving students are included as per the guidance of ISRC constitution!!!

must futseg!!
Democratic and fair vetting of candidates, No elections at all!!✊

Revolutionary Greetings (unpaid allowances).

The EFFYC Qq, through its deployee of the SRC President, wishes to state categorically that the failure of students to receive their allowances while they reflected timely it might be direct results of either technical glitch or gross negligence in admistrative processes by the financial aid department, if there's no valid explanation either from Nsfas itself.

However, the president has received and escalated the matter to the relevant department. It's unfortunate that some university departments are non operational during the weekend, especially finaid.

A clear and substantive response is anticiaptwd frm the department concerned, we commit to share the response immediately when they revert to us.

Lastly, we further caution the students to not allow being misled and manipulated through political opportunists , who are trying hard to exploit the financial pains of students fr cheap politcal points ahead of the src elections.

This matter can't be reduced to electioneering when the involved department itself is unreachable at this moment. We are dealing with facts, not rocket sciencing here.

Revolutionary greetings

The EFFYC Qq wishes to convey this message to students, particularly those who who couldn't register for 2026 with intentions of being readmitted for 2027.

If you intend for readmasion to UFS in 2027 following a gap year, please contact the tuition fees office and make payment arrangements for any outstanding debts.

If your account gets handed over to debt collectors , you will be required to settle the full amount at once, which most students can't afford.

In addition, if you were excluded or couldn't register in 2026, you must appeal and reapply with the university for 2027.

Never assume you'll be reinstated without undergoing these processes.

For those who are still eligible for Nsfas, we recommend that you reapply for the funding as soon as the application cycle is open for universities.

♦️Urgent Demand for 24-Hour Media Lab Operations and Immediate Reopening of the Library♦️

Over the years, EFFYC-led SRCs have always ensured that during examination periods the Media Lab operates 24 hours a day. This is an initiative that we are not certain the current SRC is working to achieve, as no communication has been made despite examinations beginning tomorrow. We therefore call upon Student Affairs to intervene and ensure that ICT Services allows the Media Lab to operate on a 24-hour basis for the benefit of students.

Additionally, we have noted that the library has been under renovation since the beginning of World War II; judging by its duration, even Rome didn’t take this long to build. An institution without a fully functioning library, particularly during examinations, is not conducive to learning and does not promote student success. Therefore, as the EFFYC, we vehemently and fiercely demand the opening of the library before Wednesday, failing which we will regrettably be compelled to disrupt examinations.

The interests of students must be placed above all other considerations.

Yours in the struggle,
Forces of the Revolution ❤️💚🖤.

EFFYC Statement on delayed allowances (private accommodation)

The Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command notes with urgent concern that, to date, numerous students who have received NSFAS allocations remain unattended and denied the privilege to apply for private accommodation allowance, an allowance they are entitled to and depending on for survival throughout the academic term.
This is additionally to the intentional depriving of students who have been approved for their PA since March through nonexistent overcapacity claims fabricated for the sole purpose of the university stealing these funds to enrich themselves while poor black students continue suffering.

This deliberately continued administrative delay is a direct insult and infringement on equal right to education and basic needs of poor students. It subjects students into inhumane living conditions, financial anxiety, and academic disruption, despite having being approved for funding.

The EFFYC Qq, through its weekly Red Friday Organisational program, will incorporate this matter as it's agenda of the day so it receives attention it demands, rest assured the person behind this is the usual enemy of Proggress by the Name of Dakela Maleka who commands subordinate staff members to work against the progress of students as he continue applying and imposing his political theories learned in other universities, working along with the bogus and misguided Director of student affairs Zoleka Dotwana. We will engage all the Finaid officials to attend this matter. Authority must not only be applied on decisions that maintain struggling and difficulties towards a black person.

We call out and urge all concerned students to come forward and indicate their cases to the EFFYC Tommorow. The Red Sea battalions will identify the best possible remedial actions, so these funds are accessed and received by the deserving students.

Yours in the struggle
EFFYC

EFF YOUTH COMMAND STATEMENT ON DEREGISTRATION.

The Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command Qwaqwa campus branch is cognizant of the approaching deregistration cut-off date. The reality of the matter is that the majority of students must remain registered while they continue awaiting possible bursary confirmations, be it Nsfas and other funding.

We remain unopposed in our view that the institutional student representative council must intensify through militant and robust engagement with management regarding postponement of deregistration. The current timeliness not only creates academic fear but also a threat in excluding the financially marginalized and the working class students who are still pending confirmation on bursary, particularly those who appealed Nsfas and so on.

We also extend a direct plea and responsibility to students who are in a better position to pay the amounts they committed on the acknowledgment of debt form ( AOD) to honor those agreements. Settling these amounts doesn't necessarily help you remain registered for this academic year, but it conveys a strong and clear message of cooperation that indeed black poor students remain committed with their education and meeting the university halfway.

While this corporation will help SRC to facilitate and strengthen its argument when negotiating that provisional registration shouldn't be phased out, it's our stance as the EFFYC that the privilege to education cant be subjected to financial constraints .

We hope the ISRC identifies amicable ways in finding a common ground with management to extend the deregistration date.

Yours in economic struggle.

*♦️EFFYC UPDATE ON PENDING UNADDRESSED STUDENT ISSUES♦️*

The EFFYC would like to update students on critical matters affecting their academic and living conditions. As a progressive student formation, we remain unapologetic in our commitment to fighting for the rights, dignity, and welfare of all students.

*PA STATISTICS UPDATE*
> approved : 4390+
• Resubmits: 19
• Incomplete: 72

Resubmitted statuses primarily relate to outstanding tenant verification lists, which are currently being followed up directly by UFS with landlords and relevant stakeholders.

Students with incomplete statuses are strongly advised to urgently address the stated issues and resubmit their applications. The final deadline is 10 April, and this serves as the last opportunity for consideration.

*APPROVED PA NOT REFLECTING*

Upon review, EFFYC enquired from finance and they confirmed that students who were approved in late March (up to around the 20th) will receive their payments at month-end. This follows the standard payment cycle and is not strictly tied to the 25th as previously communicated.

*RECENTLY ALLOCATED (NSFAS STUDENTS)*

Students who were recently allocated, particularly within the past two weeks, are informed that engagements have been made with Financial Aid regarding their allowances. We are currently awaiting confirmation on payment timelines.

*RESIDENCE WATER ISSUES*

The EFFYC remains fully aware of the perennial water challenges affecting residence students, an issue that has persisted for over five years. There are instances where the entire campus is left without water, placing students in unacceptable conditions.

We call on management to implement a permanent and sustainable solution. It is unacceptable for an institution like UFS to rely on temporary measures such as JoJo tanks instead of ensuring consistent running water.

Water must be available 24/7, and the continued reliance on municipal challenges as an explanation will no longer be accepted.
