NFP KZN LEGISLATURE CAUCUS WELCOMES COURT INTERIM ORDER AND REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO UNITY, CONSTITUTIONALISM AND SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF KWAZULU-NATAL
The National Freedom Party (NFP) Caucus in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature notes and welcomes the decision of the court granting an interim order suspending the removal of Hon. Cynthia Mbali Shinga as a Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, pending the hearing and review of the matter.
The NFP Caucus respects the judicial process and remains confident that all matters will be resolved through the principles of fairness, constitutionalism and the rule of law.
As the NFP, we have consistently maintained that our organisation must always be guided by its Constitution, democratic processes and the founding values upon which this movement was established.
This moment must not be viewed as a victory of one individual over another, but rather as an opportunity to restore unity, strengthen internal democracy and rebuild the National Freedom Party.
The NFP belongs to its members, supporters and South Africans who continue to believe in the vision of a party that speaks for ordinary communities.
Our focus remains clear: building one united NFP that is able to serve the people.
The representation of the NFP in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature carries a significant responsibility. It is not merely a seat; it represents the voices, hopes and aspirations of communities across the province who entrusted the NFP with the responsibility to advocate on their behalf.
Through the Legislature, the NFP continues to advance its commitment to:
* fighting poverty and inequality;
* strengthening support for vulnerable communities;
* promoting youth empowerment and employment opportunities;
* advancing women’s participation and protection;
* strengthening oversight and accountability;
* ensuring government programmes reach ordinary citizens.
The NFP Caucus further remains committed to constructive participation in the Government of Provincial Unity and ensuring that the needs of the people of KwaZulu-Natal remain at the centre of governance.
Our responsibility is bigger than internal differences.
Our responsibility is to the people who wake up every day facing unemployment, poverty, social challenges and uncertainty about their future.
The work of serving communities continues.
The work of rebuilding the organisation continues.
The work of advancing the legacy and vision of the National Freedom Party continues.
We call upon all members of the NFP to remain disciplined, united and focused. Differences must never destroy the organisation we all have a responsibility to protect.
