🚒🔥 Little Firefighters in Training! 🔥🚒

The Sprouts at Riverwood College learners recently swapped the classroom for a little firefighting adventure!

Our team spent time teaching the little ones some important fire safety basics before it was time to explore the fire engine, check out the equipment and discover what firefighters get up to. 🚒👨‍🚒

And then came everyone’s favourite part… FOAM! 🫧🫧🫧
There were plenty of smiles, laughs and some very enthusiastic splashing!

The Sprouts learners also had a special surprise for our team — a beautiful book filled with their colourful handprints. 🖐️❤️ A little thank you that made a BIG impression on us!

QUALIFIED FOR TFA 2026! 🔥🚒

The journey continues for our Rural Metro Botswana firefighters!

We are delighted to share that both Rural Metro teams entered into the Botswana National Competitions have successfully qualified for the Toughest Firefighter Alive (TFA) 2026, taking place in South Africa this October.

This achievement reflects the determination, teamwork and commitment demonstrated by our firefighters throughout the competition.

A big congratulations to both teams on reaching the next stage! 👏 We look forward to supporting them as they continue their training and prepare to take on the challenge at TFA 2026.

The journey continues! 🚒🔥

Our Rural Metro Botswana firefighters recently put their skills, strength and determination to the test at the Botswana National Competitions, held on 22 August.

It was a great opportunity to compete, challenge themselves and build on the preparation that began at the national team selection and training camp.

Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to those who supported our teams throughout the competition.

The next goal is already in sight as the journey towards the World Firefighter Games in Saudi Arabia continues. 🇧🇼🌍

SETTING A NEW STANDARD FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING IN SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦

Rural Metro Emergency Management Services is now South Africa’s only JOIFF-accredited training provider, marking an important advancement in our emergency response training capability.

JOIFF accreditation recognises training aligned with internationally recognised standards and best practice for emergency responders operating in high-hazard industrial environments. It reinforces Rural Metro’s ability to deliver competency-based training that combines technical knowledge with the practical skills required in demanding operational settings.

For prospective students, this means access to training delivered by a provider whose training systems and capabilities have been independently assessed against international benchmarks — helping prepare emergency responders with skills that are relevant to real-world operational demands.

Our JOIFF accreditation complements our existing IFSAC accreditation, expanding the scope of internationally recognised training available through Rural Metro. Together, these accreditations strengthen our ability to provide professional firefighting, rescue and specialised industrial emergency response training.

A day of learning, discovery and a little firefighting fun! 🚒🔥

Rural Metro Botswana had the pleasure of welcoming pre-school learners from Shalom Believers Academy for an educational tour of our station in Molepolole.

The young learners got an up-close look at the world of firefighting, exploring our emergency vehicles and enjoying a hands-on introduction to some of the equipment our teams use when responding to emergencies.

Visits like these are a great opportunity to introduce children to fire safety and emergency services in a fun and engaging way, while helping them understand the important role firefighters play in keeping communities safe.

Thank you to Shalom Believers Academy for spending the day with Rural Metro Botswana. We hope our young visitors left with plenty of exciting stories to share! 🚒👩‍🚒🧑‍🚒

Celebrating women shaping the future of emergency services 🚒

This week Rural Metro attended the 5th Annual Women in EMS, Disaster Management & Fire Services Leadership CONFEX 2026 in Johannesburg.

The event brought together women and industry professionals from across the emergency services sector to connect, exchange knowledge and share experiences around leadership, development and the evolving role of women in EMS, disaster management and fire services.

It was a great opportunity to engage with delegates, showcase Rural Metro’s fire, rescue and emergency management services and training capabilities, and connect with others working across the industry.

A special thank you to Trishika, Sane and Dumisani for representing Rural Metro at the CONFEX and for being part of the conversations, connections and shared learning throughout the event. 👏
