[Happening now] In addressing the issue of high unemployment rate in the country, the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) through the National Rural Youth Service Corps (NARYSEC) Programme is today conducting a Pre-Assembly program in Ladysmith under UMnambithi Local Municipality for 100 newly recruited youth from around KZN.
NARYSEC Programme is one of the key contributions of the DLRRD towards alleviating high levels of unemployment among young people in rural areas.
The core priority of the NARYSEC Programme is the development of young, vibrant, disciplined and patriotic leaders. This is achieved through the Induction Programme and the Youth Leadership Development Programme (YLDP), implemented in partnership with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
The 100 recruited youth will be trained and provided employment opportunities for Drone Pilot Technology, General Security Practices, Phlebotomy, Road Traffic Law Enforcement (Traffic Officer), Peace Officer & Traffic Wardens, Fire Fighters, Poultry Farmer, Welder, Assistant Handyperson & Bricklaying.
This will be done through the partnership the department has with Municipalities, Ampath Laboratories, Bidvest & Partners and some trainees will exit the program into the enterprise development space.
