The Madlanga Commission has revealed the names of several high-profile individuals who allegedly communicated with Major-General Feroz Khan, based on data extracted from devices linked to him.

The list reportedly includes EFF leader Julius Malema, murder accused Matipandile Sotheni, businessman Ze Nxumalo, Adriano Mazzotti, as well as several business and law enforcement figures.

The Commission has not accused any of the individuals mentioned of wrongdoing. Their inclusion reportedly only indicates that communication allegedly took place with Khan.

The nature, context and significance of those communications are expected to come under scrutiny when Khan appears before the Commission on 1 July 2026.

Former nurse and gardener sentenced to life imprisonment over R6 million insurance murder plot

The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has sentenced former nurse Hapiness Sithembile Xulu (49) and her former gardener Simon Isaac Mogale (40) to life imprisonment for the murder of Busisiwe Nxumalo.

According to court evidence, Nxumalo, who was Xulu’s stepdaughter and domestic worker, moved from KwaZulu-Natal to Johannesburg in 2021 to live and work for Xulu.

The court heard that Xulu allegedly opened a bank account in Nxumalo’s name and fraudulently took out four life and funeral insurance policies worth about R6 million, naming herself as the sole beneficiary.

Only four months after the policies were issued, Nxumalo was murdered.

Insurance companies reportedly became suspicious due to the short period between the policies being taken out and the claim being submitted. Investigations later exposed the alleged fraud scheme.

Mogale was convicted after a confession admitted in court revealed that Xulu allegedly drove him to a veld near Daxina Hospital where Nxumalo was lying unconscious, handed him a knife, and promised him R60 000 to kill her.

In addition to life imprisonment for murder, Xulu was sentenced to seven years imprisonment on each of four fraud counts after pleading guilty to unlawfully taking out insurance policies in the deceased’s name.

The court described Xulu as the mastermind behind the scheme, saying the murder was motivated by financial gain.

Gauteng police management has identified the officer seen in the alleged R2 000 bribery video, and immediate disciplinary processes have reportedly been instituted.

What raises more questions is the conduct after the money was allegedly received. If the intention was simply to take the bribe and leave, why did they remain at the scene?

The incident has sparked public debate about corruption, accountability, and professionalism within law enforcement.

Phalaborwa is indeed being controlled by water mafias.

Many residents say they last had running water on 30 April 2026, while private water suppliers allegedly continued selling water to desperate communities for weeks.

There are growing concerns that some individuals may have financially benefited from the prolonged water crisis while residents suffered without basic services.

Community members also allege that water supply was suddenly restored at around 3am ahead of a planned march over poor service delivery.

If these allegations are true, then residents have every reason to demand accountability, transparency, and consistent access to water instead of temporary solutions during times of public pressure.
