Capricorn District Municipality’s Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) leadership has today embarked on a field visit to the Olifantspoort Refurbished Water Treatment Plant at Ga-Mphahlele as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination around water service delivery in the district.

The visit provides an opportunity for political and administrative leadership to receive a briefing on the refurbishment of the Olifantspoort Water Treatment Plant, assess its current operational status and gain a better understanding of its contribution towards improving bulk water supply to communities across the district.

The programme also seeks to strengthen collaboration between Capricorn District Municipality, the local municipalities, Lepelle Northern Water, traditional leadership and other relevant stakeholders in addressing water supply challenges.

During the visit, the delegation were taken through the treatment plant by Lepelle Northern Water management to observe the infrastructure, understand the treatment processes and identify areas that may require further intervention or coordinated support.

The field visit forms part of the Municipality’s commitment to the District Development Model (DDM), which promotes integrated planning and a coordinated approach among government institutions and stakeholders to accelerate service delivery.

For Capricorn District Municipality, reliable water provision requires strong partnerships, coordinated planning and continued investment in infrastructure that can sustainably serve growing communities.
