LIMPOPO TOURISM AGENCY AND MPUMALANGA TOURISM AND PARKS AGENCY SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCH HISTORIC JOINT WINTER CAMPAIGN

The Limpopo Tourism Agency , in partnership with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency , successfully hosted the historic Joint Winter Campaign Launch on 29 May 2026 at the Radisson Safari Hotel in Hoedspruit, marking a significant milestone in regional tourism collaboration.

The launch brought together tourism stakeholders, members of the media, tourism youth formations, industry partners, government representatives and tourism practitioners from both provinces, united by a shared vision to strengthen destination marketing and drive tourism growth across the region.

The event officially unveiled the "Two Provinces, One Destination" Winter Campaign, a strategic initiative designed to position Limpopo and Mpumalanga as complementary tourism destinations offering visitors a seamless and enriching travel experience. The campaign seeks to encourage domestic and international travellers to explore the diverse attractions, unique cultural heritage, world-class wildlife experiences, scenic landscapes and warm hospitality that define both provinces.

As part of the launch programme, the two agencies showcased a variety of tourism products and experiences available throughout the winter season. From Limpopo's rich cultural heritage, iconic wildlife destinations and adventure tourism offerings to Mpumalanga's renowned scenic routes and nature-based attractions, the campaign highlights the collective strength of the region as a premier tourism destination.

The concept of the joint winter campaign originated during discussions held at the World Travel Market Africa in Cape Town and gained further momentum during Africa's Travel Indaba 2026. The initiative forms part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Limpopo Tourism Agency and the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, aimed at fostering cooperation in destination marketing, tourism development and investment promotion.

The successful launch demonstrates the commitment of both agencies to implementing the objectives of the MoU and advancing a shared tourism growth agenda. Through this partnership, the two provinces seek to increase tourist arrivals, stimulate visitor spending, create employment opportunities and contribute meaningfully to economic development within the tourism sector.

An important aspect of the collaboration is the commitment to ensuring that visitors enjoy safe, memorable and high-quality tourism experiences. This will be achieved through coordinated efforts involving government institutions, the private sector, local communities and law enforcement agencies.

Speaking during the launch, Limpopo Tourism Agency Deputy Chairperson, Ms Grace Sibara, described the occasion as a landmark achievement for regional tourism cooperation.

"Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in tourism collaboration between Limpopo and Mpumalanga. By working together, we are creating a stronger tourism offering that benefits our provinces, our communities and our tourism businesses. This partnership demonstrates our collective commitment to unlocking new opportunities, attracting more visitors and positioning our region as a destination of choice," said Ms Sibara.

She further reaffirmed Limpopo's commitment to strengthening partnerships that advance the tourism sector and contribute towards inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

Representing the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, Interim Chairperson of the Finance and Investment Committee, Mr Sizile Ndlovu, highlighted the important role played by the media in promoting tourism and shaping positive destination perceptions.

He encouraged media practitioners to continue showcasing the unique tourism experiences available in both provinces and to inspire travellers to discover the diverse attractions, cultural experiences and natural beauty that Limpopo and Mpumalanga have to offer.

Mr Ndlovu further noted that the partnership brings together two provinces with complementary tourism strengths. While Mpumalanga continues to attract significant international tourism traffic, Limpopo remains one of South Africa's leading domestic tourism destinations. Through collaboration, both provinces aim to leverage these strengths to drive mutual growth and expand tourism opportunities.

The launch also provided stakeholders and members of the media with an opportunity to engage directly with the leadership of both agencies, exchange ideas and explore opportunities for future collaboration in tourism development and destination marketing.

Looking ahead, the Limpopo Tourism Agency and Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency are developing a range of joint programmes and marketing initiatives for implementation during the 2026/27 financial year. These initiatives are expected to further strengthen tourism promotion efforts and unlock new opportunities for growth within the regional tourism economy.

While the Joint Winter Campaign Launch marks a significant achievement, it also signals the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership that will continue to drive tourism growth, promote regional integration and enhance the competitiveness of both provinces as leading tourism destinations in South Africa.
