LIMPOPO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DISMISSES FAKE VIDEO FALSELY LINKED TO A “DENNILTON HOSPITAL.”

The Limpopo Department of Health has noted a video circulating on social media claiming that monkeys have invaded a hospital ward at "Dennilton Hospital" in Limpopo. The claim is false. There is no hospital in Limpopo called Dennilton Hospital. The public hospital serving the Dennilton area is Philadelphia Hospital.

The Department can further confirm that the ward shown in the video is not at Philadelphia Hospital. The hospital is not having a problem of monkeys entering its wards and the video does not depict any area within the facility. The Department believes the video was taken elsewhere and falsely labelled to create the impression that it originated from Philadelphia Hospital.

We urge members of the public to verify information through official sources before sharing it on social media. The spread of false information causes unnecessary public concern and undermines confidence in public institutions.

LIMPOPO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ENCOURAGES EARLY REGISTRATION FOR THE 2026 WINTER FREE VOLUNTARY MEDICAL MALE CIRCUMCISION CAMPAIGN

The Limpopo Department of Health is encouraging parents and guardians of boys aged 10 years and older, as well as adult men interested in undergoing free Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC), to preregister for the upcoming 2026 Winter VMMC Campaign.

The campaign is scheduled to run from 22 June 2026 until 24 July 2026 at designated circumcision sites across the province and it is free of charge.

Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision remains an important public health intervention that contributes to the reduction of HIV transmission and promotes improved hygiene and overall men's health. The procedure is performed by trained healthcare professionals in safe clinical settings and is offered free of charge at selected public health facilities.

The Department is therefore urging parents, guardians and eligible men not to wait until the campaign period commences, check for designated centres near them. Disignated centres are published on department’s social media pages and enquiries could also be made at nearest health facilities..

Early registration will assist healthcare teams in planning adequately and ensuring that services are delivered efficiently throughout the campaign period.

Parents and guardians are reminded that informed consent is required for boys under the age of 18 years, and they are encouraged to accompany their children during registration and on the day of the procedure.

[Greater Tzaneen]MEC for Health in Limpopo, Ms Dieketseng Mashego, joined Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, fellow MECs, Magoshi, Executive Mayors, Councillors, and thousands of young people at the 2026 Provincial Youth Day Commemoration held at Vasasele Primary School in the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality, Mopani District.

The event brought together government leaders, traditional leaders, and the youth of Limpopo to honour the sacrifices of the 1976 generation and to reaffirm the province’s commitment to youth development, empowerment, education, skills development, and economic participation.
