ANC NORMAN MASHABANE REGION STATEMENT ON THE OUTCOMES OF THE SPECIAL REC MEETING HELD ON 07 FEBRUARY 2022 AT THE REGIONAL OFFICE

The ANC Norman Mashabane Region held its special REC meeting to impress on various political and administrative developments in the region and beyond, in particular matters relating to the mayorship of Maruleng Local Municipality and the forthcoming 10th ANC Provincial Conference.
On Maruleng Municipality
The REC adopted a report derived from the Provincial Executive Committee and processed by the RWC on the redeployment of Comrade Tsheko Musolwa as the Mayor of Maruleng Municipality and accordingly deploy Cde. Dipuo Thobejane as Chief Whip of council. The REC has since directed all its deployees in Maruleng Local Municipality to ensure a seamless transition in this particular regard. Accordingly, a special Municipal Council will be convened on Tuesday, 8 February 2022 in order to give practical expression to the ANC decisions.
This important decision sought to strengthen and enhance the ANC led municipality’s capacity to accelerate provision of services and drastically change the lives of the people for the better.
The change in administrative leadership came as a direct consequence of the ANC NEC’s mayoral candidate selection process which could not be finalized prior to the November 1 Local government elections to the extent that a decision was taken to appoint the former Mayor, Cde Dipuo Thobejane as interim Mayor pending the finalisation of the process. The REC wished the comrades well in their new responsibilities.
On the 10th ANC Provincial Conference.
The term of office for the 9th Provincial Executive Committee will come to an end by June 2022 and the PEC resolved on holding the 10th ANC Provincial Conference on the weekend of 03-05 June 2022. The ANC Norman Mashabane Region endorsed the roadmap as adopted by special PEC meeting.
The REC further decided on convening of a Regional General Council on the
