In the quiet heart of Titibe, where grief has settled like a heavy winter cloud, the Executive Mayor has undertaken a courtesy visit to the Mailula and Sathekge families, following the tragic accident that claimed the lives of their beloved children.
It is a moment where words are few and presence speaks louder than speeches. In such times, the community is reminded that “a sorrow shared is a sorrow halved,” as leaders stand shoulder to shoulder with families whose world has been turned upside down in an instant.
The visit is not merely ceremonial—it is a gesture rooted in humanity, a reminder that even in the corridors of governance, compassion must walk ahead of protocol.

EXECUTIVE MAYOR MPE EXTENDS A HAND OF COMFORT TO GRIEVING FAMILIES | Tuesday, 02 June 2026

Titibe, Ga-Dikgale - There are moments when words fall short and only presence can speak. Such is the case today at the MEC of Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathe and the Executive Mayor of Polokwane Municipality Cllr Makoro John Mpe are visiting the Mailula and Sathekge families in Titibe, Ward 33, following the heartbreaking loss of their children in a tragic road accident over the weekend.

With heavy hearts and a deep sense of compassion, Executive Mayor Mpe conveyed the municipality's sincere condolences to the bereaved families, sharing in their grief during this difficult time. The visit is a gesture of solidarity and humanity, affirming that when one family mourns, the entire community mourns with them.

As the dark cloud of sorrow hangs over Titibe, the Executive Mayor offered words of comfort and encouragement, urging the families to draw strength from one another and from the support of the broader community.

Polokwane Municipality joins the families, friends and residents of Ward 33 in mourning this painful loss and wishes the bereaved strength and healing in the days ahead.

"A sorrow shared is a burden lightened."

COUNCIL IN SESSION | Thursday, 28 May 2026

The wheels of local governance are firmly in motion this morning, as the Council of Polokwane Municipality convenes in full session to deliberate on matters that sit at the very heart of service delivery and development planning.

At the centre of the agenda lies the 2026–2031 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and the final budget — the policy and financial compass that will steer the municipality’s priorities. In many ways, this is where aspiration is tested against available resources.

Inside the chamber, the tone is expectedly weighty but purposeful: a space where strategy is sharpened, trade-offs are weighed, and the future of communities is quietly but decisively negotiated line by line, rand by rand.
