As many would know, there is a burst pipe on the corner of Standford Road and Deverille Road, which has left residents without water.

We contacted the officials who immediately answered our call for a water tanker which roamed through the area delivering water to Martin Street, Deverille Road and Fitchardt Street.

Good evening residents of ward 13,

What a week it has been. From power outages, to no water or refuse collection in some areas.

This week started off with the power outage after a Main Cable blew on the line running from Malabar to Avalon Crescent. I know these outages can be very frustrating, however the repairs are not always as simple as putting tape around the cable or flipping a switch when power trips. The works done are very detailed and important and if not executed correctly can lead to a bigger problem or residents being left without electricity for even longer periods of time.

I humbly request that in these instances we try our utmost to remain calm and I can assure you that we will not rest until electricity was restored. I was personally on site from Sunday when the electricity went off until works were completed and power was restored after 15:30pm on Monday. Yes, in the bush area with officials all night to ensure they are at ease on site and can get the work done.

Good evening All

The Ward 13 team is committed to giving back to the community by hosting a weekly soup distribution in front of the Ward Councillor's Office.

Due to the rain we held it in the foyer of Gelvandale Community Hall providing a hot meal of soup and bread to those in need, and demonstrating our commitment to empowering our people.

It may not be much, but we believe in giving back to our people.

Good evening residents of ward 13

I know we have come through a terrible 2 weeks, with the storm last week and the ongoing power outages and water outages over the last week.

I would like to assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure we get assistance and services provided to the ward.

This is the weekly service delivery report.

We urge residents to continue to report matters to the ward councillors office, in order for us to escalate these to the officials.

On a weekly basis all outstanding issues are sent to the relevant departments as a reminder and to try to get assistance for matters which are yet to be dealt with.

We thank you all for working with the office and for your patience over the last week.

As winter approaches, let’s stay warm and healthy.

Saturday evening we received complaints from Beverley residents regarding slow water supply.
The Chelsea Reservoir was at 2% capacity. Although the week brought substantial rainfall, the storm caused some power outages and some issues at the treatment plans which affected water distribution, necessitating swift action.
Councillor Ingrid Van Wyk acted promptly, requesting a water tanker to support the affected residents.
The tanker arrived early Sunday morning, and water distribution commenced. Water tablets have been delivering water on a daily basis in the area.

We thank the residents for their patience during the four-day water outage.
