Stay Safe People

Ladies and gents, we have some serious localised flooding around NMB-especially in low lying communities. There is so much debris all over and our roads are literally riddled with potholes. I want to warn you upfront that your morning commute will be chaotic due to the road closures as communicated earlier (show this message to your boss if he/she complains about you being late🤣)

I will be making my rounds across NMB to assess damages this morning but have received reports of people who have suffered severe damages in especially informal settlements. As such I want to activate my request to the public, especially to our Church Congregations, to endeavour to arrange donations of bedding, clothing and food and to drop same off at their nearest ward councillor office (or arrange collection by the councillor ). There is going to be a massive need to assist especially the less fortunate amongst us and we will make sure it’s distributed fairly where the need is the greatest.

With more rain to come, we are not out of the woods yet.

Take it easy on the roads, stay safe and let’s stand together and support each other like we always do ❤️

God bless you all🙏🏽

Due to inclement weather forecasted for tomorrow and the rest of the week, the DA has postponed tomorrow’s protest against the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s unfair race quotas to Monday, 11 May 2026.
At the protest on Monday, 11 May 2026 at 10am, we will also provide an update on the party’s Constitutional Court challenge against race quotas.

That’s why we’re taking a stand. Join us on Tuesday, 5 May as we protest against unfair race quotas and fight for fair access to jobs.
