The candidate nomination process for the 2026 Local Government Elections closed on 28 August 2026 at 17:00.

Candidates and political parties were able to submit nominations through two channels:

💻 84% of submissions were made through the Online Candidate Nomination portal.

🏢 16% were submitted in person at Electoral Commission offices across the country.

Following the close of nominations, the Electoral Commission undertook the required statutory review and verification processes before publishing the final list of qualified candidates.

With the final candidate list now published, voters can see who will be contesting the 2026 Local Government Elections on 4 November.

Special Voters

Special Voting is available to eligible voters who meet the requirements and cannot cast their ballot on Election Day.

Remember, voters MUST vote at the voting station where they are registered. If visiting your registered voting station on Election Day will not be possible, a Special Vote allows you to cast your ballot at your registered voting station ahead of time.

There are two types of Special Voting:

Home Visit: For eligible voters who cannot travel due to a physical condition or disability (officials will visit you at your home within your voting district).

Voting Station Visit: For eligible voters who can travel to their registered voting station on the early voting days, but cannot do so on Election Day.

Applications open on 21 September 2026.

💙 RESIDENTS ARE GETTING THEIR MONEY BACK! 💰⚡

NMB residents are already starting to see electricity rebates after the DA’s High Court victory against the Metro’s unlawful electricity tariff increases.

The court ordered the Municipality to reinstate the Inclining Block Tariff, after the ANC/EFF-led coalition of chaos scrapped it and imposed a flat rate resulting in increases of up to 30% for many households.

Now, residents will receive retrospective credits from 1 July as the Metro works to revert to the previous tariff structure, subject to NERSA approval.

This is what the DA promised: putting money back in residents’ pockets and standing up for households who are already under enormous financial pressure.

On 4 November, residents have the opportunity to vote for a DA government that will fight for affordable services, responsible government and a Nelson Mandela Bay that works for all. 💙
The DA fought it in court. Residents are getting the benefit.
