The Municipality’s water supply system is continuing to recover steadily following recent repairs, and water has now been restored to all affected areas.
There is, however, a small pocket within Ward 29, which includes areas such as Veeplaas, Bloemendal, and parts of KwaDwesi and KwaMagxaki that continues to experience water supply challenges. The reservoir supplying the area is at a satisfactory level and is providing water to the majority of residents. Municipal teams are working with the Ward Councillors to identify the specific location of the remaining problem so that it can be resolved as quickly as possible.
Residents are also reminded that Eskom will undertake a planned electricity shutdown on Thursday, 30 July 2026, which will affect the operation of the Nooitgedacht Water Treatment Works. In preparation for this planned interruption, the Municipality is working to maximise water storage across the system.
Despite these preparations, there is a possibility that some reservoirs may become depleted during the outage, which could result in low water pressure or temporary water interruptions in affected areas. A detailed list of the potentially affected areas will be communicated once confirmed.
The Municipality encourages all residents, particularly those supplied by the Nooitgedacht system, to use water sparingly in the days leading up to the planned shutdown and to store sufficient water for essential household needs.
The Municipality will continue to monitor the system throughout the planned outage and will provide regular updates through its official communication platforms and local radio stations.
