DA COUNCILLOR TERI STANDER MUST STOP HARRASING BLACK BUSINESSESS IN STANLEY STREET

Monday, 06 October 2025

The Economic Freedom Fighters in the Molly Blackburn Subregion have noted with disgust the racist campaign waged by DA Councilor Terri Stander and the Richmond Hill Special Rates Area (RHSRA) that seeks to discriminate against black owned businesses.

Studio Lounge, a recently opened restaurant at Stanley Street has received unwarranted levels of harassment from Terri who together with racist friends have been plotting a black owned business to be shutdown. The EFF has learnt about this coordinated attack on Studio Lounge, and we want to make it clear that there is no complying business of a black South African that is going to be closed.

The problem started when Richmond Hill Special Rates Area learnt that Studio Lounge restaurant was owned by a black man and the process to close the business started. That decision is informed by the racist belief that the presents of a black owned restaurant in the area will drop the aesthetics of other restaurants in the area. Therefor Teri was deployed to lead the charge to delegitimize the establishment.

Detective Teri Stander in her efforts to impress her racist white friends have shared incorrect information to achieve their agenda to destroy a dream of a black child. Herald’s role in this as a collaborator cannot be avoided as the article published on the 30th of September 2025 lacked the view of the accused to explain themselves.

All these tactics, from harassing and taking pictures of customers without their consent to calling traffic officers to come evaluating their cars, are some of the cases the establishment has brought to the attention of EFF. It was also brought to our attention that the RHRSA have coordinated a bogus signature campaign where tenants are coerced into signing a petition to close the Studio Lounge restaurant.
This is the same Terri Stander whose office was embroiled in EPWP corruption, where jobs meant for unemployed people were being sold to the most vulnerable in our society. After escaping accountability, she has now appointed herself a vigilante, a rogue councilor who has gone mad with power, harassing and terrorizing black business owners to please her racist white handlers.

The EFF in Molly Blackburn has taken a posture to push back on all forms of discrimination. As a party we advocate for unity amongst all people. We characterize discrimination as a form of violence; thus, we reject any element in our society that undermines people’s rights. As a result, the leadership of the subregion is going to accompany the Studio Lounge owner to open a case of harassment and defamation against Teri Stander and the Richmond Hill Special Rate Area.

The EFF is here to ensure that all small and medium-sized local businesses are protected. Furthermore, we must stress the importance of businesses existing in harmony with the values of the communities they exist in. in retrospect, discrimination on the base of color cannot be qualified as the bases to disqualify people from participating in the economy of our communities.

The EFF warns all media houses not to allow themselves to be used as a tool to push propaganda and we expect them to always publish accurate and impartial at all times.
