UMasipala Wesifunda soGu uyaqhubeka nokuthatha izinyathelo ezinqala nezisheshayo zokuvikela ingqalasizinda yamanzi nokuqinisekisa ukuthi imiphakathi ithola amanzi ngendlela ethembekile.

Namuhla, ithimba lezamanzi liseMganka, eBhobhoyi, lapho lisebenza khona epayipini elikhulu lensimbi elingu-300mm eliphakela i-Murchison 4 Reservoir. Ithimba seliyidalulile indawo ethintekile, lathola ukuvuza futhi seliqhubeka nomsebenzi wokushisela nokuqinisa ipayipi.

HAPPENING NOW | UGU LAUNCHES WAR ON LEAKS PROJECT 🔵🟣🟡

A new chapter in strengthening water services is unfolding today as Ugu District Municipality officially launches its War on Leaks Project at the Ugu Sports & Leisure Centre.

The initiative forms part of the Municipality’s intensified drive to reduce water losses, protect critical water infrastructure and create meaningful opportunities for local communities.

Speaking at the launch, Ugu District Municipality Mayor, Cllr I.S. Mqadi, said the project demonstrates the Municipality’s determination to turn challenges into action.

“The War on Leaks is about protecting every drop of water while creating opportunities for our people. Today we are putting boots on the ground and strengthening our fight against water losses across the district.”

Municipal Manager, Mr V.O. Mazibuko, emphasised that the programme will strengthen the Municipality’s operational response and contribute towards improved service delivery.

“This project is about action, accountability and results. By strengthening our capacity on the ground, we are taking another important step towards reducing water losses and building a more efficient and sustainable water services system.”

Today’s launch signals action, opportunity and progress as Ugu continues working towards a more resilient water future for its communities.

UGU AT YOUR SERVICE | REPAIRS PROGRESSING AT ELLINGHAM RESERVOIR🟣🟡🔵

Our Water Services team remains on the ground at Ellingham Reservoir, making steady progress with the ongoing pipeline repair.

The damaged section of the pipeline has been successfully removed, and the team is currently cutting, preparing and welding the replacement section as part of the repair process.

The valve remains temporarily closed to allow the work to be completed safely. Once installation and the necessary testing are successfully completed, the valve will be reopened and water supply restored.

Our team remains focused on completing the work as efficiently as possible.
