For Elsie, this Animal Welfare Training Course gave helpful context beyond the inspection checklist.

As a Quality Manager, she found value in looking at how non-conformances show up during inspections, and how that connects back to animal welfare practices on farms. That practical link is what makes the training useful for anyone working with quality, compliance or welfare standards.

The course helps turn the requirements into something easier to understand and apply in real working environments. βœ…

Food Safety Agency was proud to attend the 2026 RMAA Conference and Congress, hosted by the Red Meat Abattoir Association.

This year’s theme, β€œMeat Safety Amidst Evolving Production Systems,” created an important platform for industry leaders, abattoirs, regulators, veterinarians and service providers to engage on the future of meat safety in South Africa.

Key discussions included FMD control, market access, veterinary public health, abattoir operations, biosecurity, residue monitoring, compliance, and the role of technology in strengthening food safety systems.

For FSA, events like these are valuable opportunities to connect with the industry, listen to current challenges, share knowledge, and continue supporting safe, compliant and quality-driven food production from farm to fork.

A sincere thank you to the RMAA for hosting a meaningful and well-organised event, and to everyone who visited our stand and engaged with our team.

Together, we continue working towards a safer and stronger red meat industry.
