🌍 Last Friday, Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė was pleased to participate in a special Women’s Month Networking Reception hosted at the SANParks Head Office in Pretoria, bringing together inspiring women from the diplomatic,
business, tourism and public sectors.

The gathering provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate women’s leadership, exchange experiences and strengthen connections across sectors. The programme featured inspiring reflections on women in diplomacy and leadership, as well as the important role women play in building meaningful partnerships and creating positive impact.

We extend our sincere appreciation to SANParks and Mail & Guardian for convening this meaningful event and creating a space for dialogue, connection and collaboration.

Gyvenant užsienyje, išsaugoti lietuvių kalbą – tai išsaugoti ryšį su Lietuva, šeima ir savo šaknimis. 💛💚❤️

Lituanistinis ugdymas suteikia vaikams galimybę mokytis lietuvių kalbos, geriau pažinti Lietuvos kultūrą ir tradicijas, susitikti su kitais lietuviškai kalbančiais vaikais bei stiprinti savo ryšį su Lietuva – kad ir kur jie augtų.

Šią svarbią žinią primena Užsienio reikalų ministerijos pradėta šviečiamoji kampanija „Aš nepamesiu savo kalbos“, kviečianti užsienyje gyvenančias lietuvių šeimas atrasti lietuvių kalbos mokymosi galimybes.

🎶 Kampanijos centre – vaizdo klipas pagal Lietuvos atlikėjo ir dainų autoriaus Vido Bareikio kūrinį „Aš nepamesiu savo dainos“. Dainos žodžius kampanijai pritaikė Čikagos lietuvių bendruomenė, o vaizdo klipe patys mokiniai dalijasi mintimis apie lietuvių kalbos svarbą.

Kviečiame Pietų Afrikoje gyvenančias lietuvių šeimas pasidomėti lituanistinio ugdymo galimybėmis ir pasidalinti šia žinia su savo artimaisiais.

🇱🇹🇱🇻🇪🇪 37 years ago today, Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians stood hand in hand, forming a 650-kilometre human chain across the three Baltic states.

Three nations, united in their determination to restore independence, came together on the 50th anniversary of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocols to express, with one voice, their shared desire for freedom and independence.

The became a powerful symbol of unity and peaceful resistance, inspiring other nations around the world in their pursuit of freedom and independence.

The spirit of the Baltic Way lives on — in our unity, our resilience and our unwavering support for Ukraine 🇺🇦 in its heroic fight to defend freedom and European values against Russian imperialism.

August 23 is also commemorated as the European Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Stalinism and Na**sm.

🇱🇹🇿🇦 The Embassy of Lithuania was honoured to participate in the International Portraits of Power exhibition, a meaningful initiative celebrating iconic women whose legacies reflect the history, values and aspirations of their nations.

For Lithuania, the exhibition features a portrait of Emilija Pliaterytė, a prominent figure in Lithuania’s history and a symbol of courage, determination and the fight for freedom. The portrait was painted by talented South African artist Onela Wellem, bringing together Lithuanian history and South African artistic expression.

Ambassador of Lithuania Rasa Jankauskaitė had the pleasure of meeting Onela Wellem and discussing the artistic process and the significance of portraying Emilija Pliaterytė. During the official opening of the exhibition, Consul of the Embassy of Lithuania R. Tunyla also delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.

The project provided a wonderful opportunity to build meaningful connections between diplomatic missions and young South African artists, while creating a lasting bridge between our countries through art and shared values.

We sincerely thank the Charlotte Mannya-Maxeke Institute (CMMI) and all partners involved in this inspiring initiative for bringing together art, history and international cooperation. We look forward to further collaborations that strengthen the ties between Lithuania and South Africa. 🇱🇹🤝🇿🇦🎨

Lithuania is more than agile. It is a startup nation.

A recent Computer Weekly feature explores how a country of just 2.8 million people has built one of Europe's most dynamic technology ecosystems.

Since 2020, the value of Lithuania's technology ecosystem has grown sixfold to €16.4 billion. More than 70,000 people work in ICT, and six Lithuanian-founded companies have reached unicorn status.

But the story goes beyond the numbers. Limited access to venture capital has encouraged Lithuanian founders to make the most of limited resources and build for international markets from day one.

From Vinted and the "Vinted effect" to Nord Security, a thriving fintech sector and technology hubs such as Cyber City, Lithuania's innovation ecosystem continues to produce companies that compete successfully on the global stage.

🎓🌍Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė welcomed a delegation from Mykolas Romeris University at the Embassy of Lithuania in Pretoria. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Vaidas Jurkevičius, Professor at the Law School, Alina Juškienė, Head of the International Partnerships Office, and Audra Dargytė Burokienė, Head of the International Office.

During the meeting, Ambassador Rasa Jankauskaitė and the delegation discussed the outcomes of the delegation's visits to the University of Pretoria, the University of Johannesburg, and the University of Venda, as well as opportunities to further strengthen academic cooperation between Lithuania and South Africa. The discussion also highlighted the importance of expanding institutional partnerships, promoting research collaboration, and encouraging student and staff mobility.

The delegation's visit to South Africa focused on building new partnerships with leading higher education institutions and exploring opportunities for long-term collaboration in education, research, and innovation. The Embassy of Lithuania is pleased to support initiatives that bring Lithuanian and South African universities closer together and contribute to stronger bilateral ties.
