Effective oversight is not simply about compliance. It is about ensuring that municipal resources are used responsibly and ultimately contribute to better services for communities.

Our feature explores the role of MPACs and why strong municipal oversight matters to every resident.

A spirit of celebration, gratitude, and pride filled the room on Friday, 4 September 2026, as Departments: Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs honoured retirees and long-serving employees.

Conferred by the Minister of CoGTA, Mr Velenkosini Hlabisa, the awards recognised significant career milestones and the invaluable contribution employees have made to the functioning of the State and service to the people of South Africa.

The ceremony celebrated their dedication, resilience, sacrifices, and institutional knowledge. It also acknowledged the families who supported them throughout their careers.

The message of the occasion was clear: experience does not retire, and legacy does not retire.

Congratulations to all our retirees and long-service recipients. Your service has made a difference, and your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
