𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆.

The 4th National Biodiversity Stewardship Conference is currently underway at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre in Kimberley, Northern Cape, bringing together partners and stakeholders under the theme: “Biodiversity stewardship: connecting people and nature through partnerships for a thriving biodiversity economy.”

The conference provides a platform to reflect on progress, share experiences and strengthen collaboration around biodiversity stewardship and Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs).

Ahead of the official opening, delegates explored the Northern Cape landscape through visits to four potential OECM sites — Kamfersdam, Kameelhoek, Vaalbos and Dronfield — gaining valuable insight into how diverse land-use, governance and conservation approaches can contribute to protecting biodiversity beyond formally protected areas.
