Embrace Diversity Movement SA

Embrace Diversity Movement SA The Embrace Diversity Movement is a pro-Mass Democratic Movement LGBTI led political organisation. We rally behind the African National Congress.

The Embrace Diversity Movement is a political movement by and for the Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Q***r individuals that are pro-ANC and its Mass Democratic Movement alliance partners. The EDPM holds a commitment to building a society that embraces diversity and strive for the equality of all who live in South Africa, particularly those in the minority. The collective uses its poli

tical position to advocate for social and economic inclusion for all LGBTIQ persons. The founding charter commits to realise a South Africa where,
• Sexuality differences are promoted and respected,
• LGBTIQs are united, consolidated, trained and developed to better access socio-economic opportunities.
• The development of our policy acknowledges the gains of the preceding two decades and address the challenge of inequality, poverty, unemployment and persistent division based on sexuality.
• LGBTIQs are entrusted and deployed to various governance platforms and diplomatic corps
• We also recognize the principle guidelines enunciated in the South African National Framework for Women Empowerment and Gender Equality were drawn directly from a consultative process, which proposed that the ANC could advance the integration on gender consideration into the transformation of the country by ensuring that;
There is equality of all persons and that non-sexism and non-racism as enshrined in the constitution of the country remains the party’s top priority. We are of a view that the principle must inform all policies and programs that will lead to the implementation of gender equality. Furthermore, distinctions according race, class, sexuality, disability, age, geographic locations and other variables should not be overlooked or taken for granted. However, similarities should also be used to strengthen initiatives designed to revers past gender and sexuality discrimination.

June is Youth Month in South Africa, but for LGBTIQ+ youth, the complete idea of “freedom” still involves dealing with unemployment, coupled with hate. Youth unemployment is at 46.1%, with young people unable to secure jobs, many q***r youth continue to face unsafe journeys to interviews. Our contribution for the next 50 years is to ensure complete freedom for LGBTIQ people.

Access Chapter 2 remembers and honour the life of our fallen former colleague, Banyana Ndondo Khutamo, a fearless LGBTQIA+ activist whose voice, courage, and unwavering commitment to justice touched countless lives.

Banyana stood for visibility, dignity, equality, and the protection of q***r lives in South Africa. Their work created safe spaces, inspired hope, and reminded many that they are seen, valued, and worthy of love and freedom.

As we mourn this painful loss, we also celebrate a life dedicated to community, activism, and change.

May we continue the work they fought so hard for by standing against hate, protecting one another, and building a world where every LGBTQIA+ person can live freely and safely.

Rest in power, Banyana Ndondo Khutamo.

Your light, courage, and legacy will never be forgotten.

The Embrace Diversity Movement SA notes the convening of the 27th National Congress of the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in Polokwane, held under the theme “Economic Freedom and Social Change Now, Not Later.”

The ANCYL remains a vital institution in shaping the political consciousness, leadership, and policy direction of South Africa’s youth. Its historic role in advancing transformation, reconstruction, and development cannot be overstated.

This Congress carries the profound responsibility of electing the ANCYL’s top leadership, the National Executive Committee, which will be mandated to decisively implement the resolutions and directives of the 27th Congress. Beyond leadership elections, Congress must articulate clear policy positions and adopt a coherent programme of action that meaningfully advances the youth agenda. Its success will be measured by its ability to critically assess the current phase of the democratic struggle and to respond decisively to the socio-economic challenges confronting young people.

EDM affirms that the future of the youth movement must be unapologetically intersectional, and that Q***r leadership is essential in shaping a youth agenda that truly represents all young people. The revolution we seek is not about widening the boundaries of privilege, but about dismantling socio-political and economic inequalities.

We extend our solidarity and best wishes to LGBTQIA+ delegates and candidates contesting leadership positions, whose participation strengthens the ANCYL’s ability to produce inclusive, just, and transformative policies that reflect the lived realities of diverse communities.
