At Abba, we believe every child and young person deserves to feel safe, supported and seen. Through prevention, protection and permanency, we work alongside children, young people, mothers and families in moments of crisis, offering care, guidance and hope for a brighter future.

Today we celebrate a very special milestone as our very own Rene Ferreira attained her PhD in Social Work from North-West University.

Reneโ€™s research focused on the development of a post-adoption programme for adoptees, a meaningful contribution that speaks directly to the heart of Abbaโ€™s permanency work.

We are incredibly proud of Rene and grateful for the knowledge, passion, and commitment she brings to the field of adoption and post-adoption support.

We look forward to seeing how this important research will continue to strengthen and deepen Abbaโ€™s post-adoption work with adoptees, adoptive families, and all those connected to the adoption journey.

Child Protection Month: Every Child Deserves Safety, Love, and Permanency

As South Africa commemorates Child Protection Month, and marks Child Protection Week from 29 May to 5 June, we are reminded that every child deserves to feel safe, loved, protected, and valued.

Too many children still face abuse, neglect, violence, abandonment, and unsafe circumstances. Child protection is not only a government responsibility. It is a collective one.

For more than 30 years, Abba Specialist Adoptions & Social Services has worked to strengthen families, support young mothers, protect vulnerable children, and help children find loving, permanent homes.

Guided by our pillars of Prevention, Protection, and Permanency, we continue to stand in the gap for children and families across South Africa.

This Child Protection Month, let us all play our part in creating safer communities and brighter futures for our children.
