JVD INDUSTRY UPDATE | A STRONG MAIZE HARVEST

South Africa's 2025/26 maize crop is currently estimated at 17.4 million tonnes, around 4.5% higher than the previous season.

Of this, approximately 7.91 million tonnes is yellow maize, which plays an important role in the animal-feed sector.

A larger harvest can improve domestic supply and ease some pressure on prices — but storage, transport, demand and market conditions will continue to influence how that supply moves through the agricultural value chain.
