Siyancuma Independents in Douglas stuur ’n duidelike boodskap in onlangse tussenverkiesing
Douglas, ’n gemeenskap binne die Siyancuma-munisipale gebied, het met die onlangse tussenverkiesing ’n merkwaardige verwikkeling in die Noord-Kaapse plaaslike politiek gebring. Wat op die oppervlak soos ’n gewone proses gelyk het, het vinnig verander in ’n sterk openbare verklaring oor gemeenskapswil, dienslewering en demokratiese selfbeskikking.
Die verkiesingsuitslag dui op ’n duidelike verskuiwing: inwoners het hul stem gebruik om ’n nuwe koers vir wyk 5 in Siyancuma te bepaal, en daarmee ’n boodskap gestuur dat plaaslike demokrasie nie stilstaan of voorspelbaar is nie. Waar politieke partye tradisioneel die ruimte oorheers het, het die mense van Douglas hierdie keer hulself sentraal geplaas — as die bepalende krag agter die resultate.
Vir baie kiesers was dit meer as ’n verkiesingsdag; dit was ’n oomblik van herbesinning. Gemeenskappe wat lank die gevolge van swak dienslewering, gebrekkige verantwoordbaarheid en beperkte betrokkenheid moes dra, het nou duidelik gewys dat hulle nie langer tevrede is met ’n simboliese stem nie. Hulle eis werklike reaksie, werklike verandering en werklike aanspreeklikheid.
Die tussenverkiesing het daarmee ’n breër boodskap na die Noord-Kaap gestuur: die politieke landskap is besig om te verander — dinamies, lewendig en minder voorspelbaar as voorheen. Dit dui op ’n groeiende bewustheid dat gemeenskappe self ’n bepalende rol wil speel in die rigting waarin hul dorpe beweeg.
Die Northern Cape Communities Movement wil die mense van Douglas hiermee gelukwens. Julle deelname, dissipline en vasberadenheid wys dat plaaslike politiek nie net oor partye gaan nie, maar oor mense wat hul toekoms in hul eie hande neem. Wat in Douglas gebeur het, kan wel die begin wees van ’n nuwe fase in die Noord-Kaapse plaaslike regering — een waar gemeenskappe harder praat, duideliker kies en sterker saamstaan.
En terwyl 2026 nader kom, kan dit net wees dat die groter verhaal van politieke vernuwing en gemeenskapsherlewing juis hier begin.

The NCCM would like to commemorate the life of Mr. Wim van Bergen of the Siyancuma Independents in Douglas! Oom Wim passed away today and he flew the banner of the independent electoral candidates high since 2021 as a ward councillor in Siyancuma Local Municipality!

We support the Siyancuma Independents during this difficult time and wish you all the best in the upcoming council and IEC activities that follows.

Things are heating up in Namakwa where Namakwa Civic Movement is contesting two by-elections in Nama-Khoi!

Dr. Calvino Watt is a medical professional contesting ward 5 Nama-Khoi on the 14th of May 2025! The people of the Northern Cape deserve the best of us and our best effort to right the wrongs in the province!

Gemeenskap bewegings in die Provinsie is onder aanslag in hul verskeie munisipaliteite al sedert 2021! In Nama-Khoi plaaslike munisipaliteit waar die Namakwa Civic Movement regeer en die munisiplaiteit uit die graf kom red het is twee tussen verkiesings aan die broei!

Laat ons die gemeenskappe die politieke landskap verander vir ons mense! Dis nou of nooit!
