Often words like ‘friend of humility, love, and faithfulness’ are used to describe someone once they have passed on. However, if you had ever met Ps Sam Muravha you would know that he was the embodiment of humility, of love for others, of absolute kindness - he greeted everyone he met in his quiet demeanour but with warmth and a smile.
He was a truly humble and faithful servant.
Pastor Sam did his Home Fellowship Training Course in 1986, Basic Concepts Course in 1987, he went to Bible school from 1989-1990, did the Healing course in 1996. He served as an usher from 1987-1993, counter for Tithes and Offerings in 1994, Baptising people from 1995, Home Fellowship Leader from 1991-1995, Area Leader and Head of the Healing Team in 1996.
Pastor Sam started working in the Venue Preparation Department in 1988-1989 and then in Security from 1989-1990. In 2001 he became a Pastoral Assistant and was then ordained as a Pastor in 2002. He worked at the Hands of Compassion Depot, where donations are dropped off by our congregation and distributed to those in need. He ministered to the poor weekly, attended to walk-in people in need, counselled and prayed for them. He oversaw the preparation and serving of meals for the homeless, the distribution of food parcels as well as the Hands of Compassion Emergency House. He then became a Zone Pastor in Alex taking over the running of our Alex Care Centre, one of Rhema Multi-sites, which includes a community centre, a crèche, a feeding scheme, and projects for women and the youth of Alex. During times of disaster such as floods, fires, and xenophobic violence, Ps Sam would be found in the midst of the people - a trustworthy pillar of strength - serving, comforting, rebuilding.
You are such an amazing example of a disciple of Christ, as your daughter said, “You died with your boots on”. We honour you, sir.
We pray for comfort and strength to Ps Helen and to their daughter Faith during this time.
