When someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts.

Both semi-automatic and fully automatic AEDs can save lives. The difference comes down to one important question:

πŸ‘‰ Does the rescuer need to press the shock button?

With a Semi-Automatic AED, the device analyses the heart rhythm and tells you when to press the shock button.

With the Amoul i7 Plus Fully Automatic AED, the device analyses the rhythm and delivers the shock automatically when needed.

In a high-stress emergency, removing even one step can make all the difference.

πŸ’š Open the lid and it powers on
πŸ’š Clear voice prompts guide you
πŸ’š Adult & paediatric capability built into one set of pads
πŸ’š Fully automatic rhythm analysis
πŸ’š Fully automatic shock delivery

Because in a cardiac arrest, simplicity saves lives.

At AED South Africa, our mission remains the same:

⚑ Turn hesitation into action.
⚑ Turn bystanders into lifesavers.

🚨 CAN YOU USE AN AED ON SOMEONE WITH A PACEMAKER? 🚨

Absolutely YES. ⚑❀️

One of the biggest misconceptions around AEDs is that they should NOT be used on someone with a pacemaker… but in a real cardiac emergency, using an AED quickly could save that person’s life. πŸ™Œ

A pacemaker helps regulate the heartbeat β€” but it does NOT prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). If someone collapses, becomes unresponsive, and is not breathing normally, CPR and an AED should be used immediately. ⏱️

βœ… Modern AEDs are designed to safely analyse the heart rhythm
βœ… The AED will ONLY shock if needed
βœ… Pacemakers are not damaged by AED shocks
βœ… Simply place the pads slightly away from the pacemaker device and follow the voice prompts

The most dangerous thing in a cardiac arrest is hesitation. Every minute without defibrillation can reduce survival chances dramatically. ⚠️

That’s why public access AEDs are so important.
Because you don’t need to be a doctor to save a life β€” you just need the courage to act. πŸ’šπŸ’›

The Amoul i7 AED is designed to guide rescuers step-by-step with clear voice prompts, helping ordinary people become lifesavers when every second counts. ⚑

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦β€οΈ TWO LIVES. ONE CHANCE TO ACT. β€οΈπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

One of the biggest misconceptions during a cardiac emergency is that you should NOT use an AED on a pregnant woman.
⚠️ This is FALSE.

If a pregnant woman suffers sudden cardiac arrest, using an AED immediately can give BOTH the mother and baby the best possible chance of survival. πŸ‘Άβš‘β€οΈ

βœ… Start CPR immediately
βœ… Apply the AED as soon as possible
βœ… Follow the voice prompts
βœ… Don’t be afraid to act

An AED shock is delivered to the heart β€” not the unborn baby β€” and delaying treatment can be far more dangerous than using the AED itself.

πŸš‘ The Doctor Who Put a Defibrillator in an Ambulance

In 1965, Northern Irish cardiologist Frank Pantridge asked a revolutionary question:

β€œWhy wait for the patient to reach the defibrillator? Why not take the defibrillator to the patient?”

At the time, defibrillators were large hospital machines weighing approximately 70 kilograms.

They were bulky, complex, and only operated by highly trained medical professionals.

Frank Pantridge changed that.

Working at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, he developed the world’s first portable defibrillator and placed it inside an ambulance.

For the first time in history, life-saving defibrillation could be delivered where it mattered most β€” at the patient’s side.

This breakthrough laid the foundation for:
⚑ Modern ambulance defibrillators
⚑ Emergency medical services
⚑ Public access AEDs
⚑ The compact devices we use today

❀️ More than 60 years later, the same life-saving technology now fits into the palm of your hands.

The Amoul i7 AED weighs only 3.5 kg, automatically analyses the heart rhythm, and can deliver up to 360 Joules biphasic energy with clear voice prompts to guide rescuers every step of the way.

From a 70 kg machine in an ambulance…
to a 3.5 kg AED that anyone can use.

The technology has changed.
The mission remains the same: save lives.

⚑ It All Began in 1899.

Today, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can guide an ordinary bystander to help save a life during sudden cardiac arrest.

But before 1899, doctors had very few options.

If a person's heart stopped, they could only try methods such as:
β€’ Artificial respiration
β€’ Chest massage
β€’ Smelling salts
β€’ Hot and cold stimulation
β€’ And simply hoping the heart would start beating again

At the time, doctors did not yet understand ventricular fibrillation (VF) β€” a deadly heart rhythm where the heart quivers instead of pumping blood.

Then, in 1899, two Swiss scientists, Jean-Louis PrΓ©vost and FrΓ©dΓ©ric Batelli, made a groundbreaking discovery at the University of Geneva.

They found that:
1️⃣ A small electrical shock could cause ventricular fibrillation.
2️⃣ A larger, carefully applied shock could stop the abnormal rhythm and allow the heart to beat normally again.

For the first time in history, science proved that electricity could be used to reset the heart.

This remarkable discovery laid the foundation for every defibrillator and AED used around the world today.

❀️ More than 125 years later, this same principle continues to save lives in schools, airports, workplaces, sports clubs, and homes.

⚑ Modern devices like the Amoul i7 AED can automatically analyse the heart rhythm and, if needed, deliver up to 360 Joules biphasic energy with clear voice prompts to guide rescuers every step of the way.

125 years of innovation. One purpose: saving lives.

🚨 Swing for a Life – Helping Put More AEDs Where They’re Needed Most ❀️

We are incredibly excited to see NSRI hosting their β€œSwing for a Life” Fundraising Golf Day on Saturday, 6 June 2026.

Their goal is to raise R100,000 to purchase life-saving defibrillators (AEDs) that can make the difference between life and death when every second matters.

πŸ‘ A huge well done to the team at Station 32 for taking the initiative to improve emergency preparedness in their community.

If you are able to participate, sponsor, or donate, please consider supporting this outstanding cause. Together, we can help put more AEDs where they are needed most.

πŸ”₯ Burn Week Reminder πŸ”₯

It’s not always the burns that kill.

Smoke inhalation and lack of oxygen can stop the heart within minutes β€” and in those critical moments, CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can make all the difference.

⚑ Fast action saves lives.

⚑ Fast defibrillation saves time.

⚑ AEDs help ordinary people respond before EMS arrives.
Would your workplace, school, estate, or business know where the nearest AED is?

⛽️ What if petrol stations could save lives? ❀️

Petrol stations are everywhere.
Open 24/7, 365 days a year β€” always nearby when you need them.

Now imagine this:
⚑ Every petrol station equipped with an AED
⚑ Help always within reach
⚑ Every stop becoming a life-saving stop

This is what real community safety could look like β€”
simple, powerful, and always accessible.
From filling tanks… to saving lives.

πŸ‘‰ Quick question:
How close is your nearest petrol station to you right now?
