A fun talk on the Pels fishing owl, for Earth and Wildlife Warrior kids and adults.
The best part about teaching is you learn as well.
Learn to be humble,
To be more in touch with life.
Blessed to be able to teach in the bush!

Had a call to come and look at trees in an area that had heavy pollution.
The company planted trees to try and assit with the air quality.
The trees took time to settle and did not seem to be doing well.
3 years later..
So happy to see this improvement..
Well done to the environmental team and to the tree experts who assisted in making the correct decision for the area.

This is foliose lichen growing on the bark of a tree.

What it is:
A composite organism formed by a symbiotic relationship between a fungus (providing structure and protection) and algae or cyanobacteria (providing food via photosynthesis).

Growth Type:
"Foliose" refers to its leafy, flattened, lobe-like structure that loosely attaches to the surface, raising slightly at the edges.
Tree Health: Lichen uses the bark strictly as a anchor point for light and air. It does not harm, feed on, or pe*****te the tree, nor does it act as a parasite.

Air Quality Indicator:
Lichens absorb moisture and nutrients directly from the air, making them highly sensitive to pollution; abundant growth usually indicates good local air quality.

Look at this stunning find! 🌿✨
I spotted this Common Metallic Longhorn Beetle (Promeces longipes) today. Its vibrant, emerald-green metallic shell is just incredible to see in the wild! These beetles are part of the longhorn family (often called "Boktor" in Afrikaans) and are known for their distinctively long antennae.
Nature’s jewelry at its finest! 🐞✨

You may find it interesting that these beetles are often seen visiting flowers and are considered a regular, harmless part of our local woodland ecosystems.

A powerful orca rises from the water with one of the most impressive dorsal fins you will ever see.

This striking image captures the sheer strength and grace of these intelligent marine mammals. The tall straight fin cuts through the surface creating a commanding presence that demands attention. Every detail from the smooth black skin to the way the water moves around the whale highlights why orcas remain some of the most captivating creatures in the ocean.
Moments like this remind us of the wild beauty still thriving beneath the waves.
