The MMC Poppy Lebethe in the Directorate of Development and Town Planning conducting an oversight visit to Red Graniti Quarries.

The purpose of the oversight visit to Red Graniti was to assess and verify the company’s compliance with the applicable municipal bylaws of Rustenburg Local Municipality.

The visit sought to ensure that Red Graniti’s operations, facilities, and business conduct align with regulatory requirements relating to relevant municipal standards.

This oversight forms part of the Municipality’s mandate to promote lawful, safe, and orderly business operations within its jurisdiction.

The MMC Poppy Obakeng Lebethe attended a community meeting held in Rockview, accompanied by Ward Councillor Johnson and PR Councillor Doreen. The purpose of the meeting was to engage directly with community members and provide clarity on matters relating to the informal settlement formalization project.

During the meeting, the MMC outlined the objectives, processes, and anticipated outcomes of the project, while also addressing concerns and questions raised by the community. The engagement aimed to ensure transparency, improve understanding, and strengthen cooperation between the municipality and residents regarding the formalization process.

The presence of both councillors contributed to effective communication and reinforced the municipality’s commitment to inclusive and participatory development.

DEVELOPMENT AND TOWN PLANNING

MMC Poppy Obakeng Lebethe attended a community meeting in Lethabong Soviet View to provide feedback on the formalization of the informal settlement.

The MMC informed residents that the area is approved and has been audited by RLM Housing Unit. The MMC also highlighted that the service provider will soon be appointed to undertake the township establishment process.

The Development and Town Planning MMC Poppy Obakeng Lebethe honoured a meeting visit to address concerns relating to the planned feasibility study and township establishment in Lethabong Soviet View Informal Settlement.

The MMC noted that further technical assessments and compliance processes are required to ensure proper planning and viability. The Directorate will continue with complete reportp and provide progress updates.

A follow-up meeting will be convened to address outstanding matters and to ensure implementation moves forward efficiently.

MMC for Development and Town Planning, Poppy Obakeng Lebethe attended a meeting with residents of Ramochana D7 Informal Settlement to engage on the pressing challenges affecting the community, particularly matters relating to informal settlement conditions and service delivery.

The engagement provided a platform for residents to raise their concerns, while the MMC reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to working collaboratively with the community and relevant stakeholders to find practical solutions and offer assistance where possible.

MMC Lebethe further highlighted that the issues raised require thorough assessment, and indicated that further investigations and follow-up discussions will be conducted to ensure informed and sustainable interventions.

MMC for Development and Town Planning Poppy Obakeng Lebethe together with Directorate officials, conducted an oversight inspection at the Rustenburg Airfield (Aerodrome) to assess the current state of the infrastructure and explore opportunities for maintenance and improvement.

The visit forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to ensure that key infrastructure is properly maintained and positioned to support local development and economic opportunities.
