This nyala was spotted sampling elephant dung - a behaviour that can give animals access to undigested plant material and potentially useful nutrients left behind after digestion. Nothing goes to waste in the bush! 🌿

This elephant made the most of the waterhole at Tembe, enjoying a refreshing splash before getting on with the rest of the day.

Sometimes you just have to stop everything and get in the water! 😄

A poem about Tembe Elephant Park

The shimmering light in the early dawn
Silence and a reverence for our creator this early morn
Tembe where the big tuskers roam free
And shy Nyala hide behind the leaves of a tree
In the late afternoon when the African sky turns red
And we make our way to camp before bed
A lone lion sits surveying the open space
Soon to run a race
Against a warthog, friendly and fat
Food for the king of beasts and that is that!
We sit around the fire pit with a grateful sigh And make our way to our cosy tents when the embers die.
