Revolutionary greetings

As SASCO we received complains from res dwellers regarding our security staff members,

We therefore took it upon ourselves to do an investigation regarding the complains ..

After conducting our investigation we saw and witnessed the complains being real

We drafted a letter to the college management, raising our worry about certain security staff members not doing what they are supposed to be doing while on duty

2day we are pleased to announce that we can see that our security staff members have received our concerns from management and doing accordingly,

Our student's safety is our priority.

SASCO ENCOURAGES OUT OF SCHOOL YOUTH & MATRICS TO APPLY FOR NSFAS

Thursday, 28 October 2021

The South African Student’s Congress (SASCO) warmly welcomes the announcement of the opening of NSFAS applications for the 2022 academic year which are opened from 2 November 2021 - 07 January 2022. SASCO encourages out of school youth and the current Grade 12 learners to not miss this opportunity to apply for funding.

SASCO is particularly pleased with the announcements and arrangements made for Cohort 5 which are students living with disabilities, whom which their family gross income will be capped at R600 000 per annum with the aim to accommodate their special needs.

SASCO appreciates the growth and stability shown by NSFAS, and further reiterates its call that NSFAS working with DHET must revise the current cap of R350 000 to R600 000. Children of workers are highly excluded by the cap in its current form which conditions have been exacerbated by Covid19 which has negatively affected many households.

SASCO hopes to see an easy, accessible and safe application process which will be efficient more especially for first time entering students, as there has been a stark rise in cyber crime during the course of 2021 and such some student’s have been unable to access their wallets. SASCO encourages students to be vigilant and keep their Passwords & Pins in a safe place.

Prospective students are reminded that they can apply to a TVET College or University of their choice as NSFAS is awarded to students in all public institutions of higher learning. To apply for NSFAS kindly visit www.nsfas.org.za or visit any NYDA / Thusong Centre near you to make your application. We further call on NSFAS throughout December 2021 to partner with relevant stakeholders and run an outreach to rural communities to provide support to those prospective students.

For those students who have fallen victims to scammers, kindly take one these steps to retrieve your account:

Fax2Email: 086 726 1681

Lastly, SASCO wishes all TVET and University students who are currently sitting for their final examinations for the academic year 2021 all the best in their exams. Remember to relax and consult the provided online Mental Health Consultation if needed.

Immediate Release

Sasco Rose Mthembu Branch

07 October 2021

SASCO Rose Mthembu Mthembu Branch feedback based on the funeral of one of our student, the information came late on Friday that the funeral is on Sunday and by that time Central Office was closed that's why transport was not provided for students to attend. The arrangements was done internal and they deployed the SRC to represent the Campus.

Nated Business

We call upon management to review the Trial Exam timetable, students did not have enough time to attend classes due to some venues been occupied for exams more especially for computer classes and theory subjects also the time is not sufficient. We propose that the Trial commence on the 18th of October 2021.

Nsfas
Nsfas system continue to divide students and does not favour students from Rural Areas. We can't be continuing to promote students to appeal hense there are some students who appealed and nothing happened,we call upon the SRC to engage Nsfas Officials on the issue of those who appealed and status still the same before dealing with those who will statt appealing it can't be correct that Nsfas system degrade students Levels( a student is doing N6, the system say he/she doing N5). We call upon Nsfas Agency to give proper feedback direct from the Nsfas Office not from the College. Sasco continue it's 30 years of advocating for students issues and we support the call by students to fight for their rights

Nated engineering

New students will register after the returning students are done with registration. Returning Students should check Caltech for results
