Blue Crane Route Municipality Concludes Their Two-Day Annual Strategic Risk Assessment Workshop

Blue Crane Route Municipality successfully hosted its 2-day Annual Strategic Risk Assessment Workshop on 02 – 03 June 2026 at Jakes Gerwell Hallin Aeroville at KwaNojoli, facilitated by Provincial Treasury. Risk management isn’t just paperwork. It’s how we protect service delivery, manage public funds responsibly, and build a resilient municipality for our communities in KwaNojoli, Cookhouse and Pearston.

Our Municipal Manager opened Day 1 by setting clear objectives for the 2026/27 financial year. Ms A. Dyani from Provincial Treasury then led an insightful Risk Management Overview, equipping all departments with the tools to identify threats and opportunities. The afternoon was dedicated to the Risk Identification Process, with teams diving deep into our strategic risks.

On Day 2, Mr M. Ngwadla from Provincial Treasury recapped the previous day’s work before departments engaged in intensive Review of Strategic Risks sessions. The most critical outcome came when we confirmed action plans, assigned responsibilities, and set clear implementation dates with the Municipal Manager. Every identified risk now has an owner and a deadline.

This workshop delivered an updated Strategic Risk Register for 2026/27 that will guide how we safeguard municipal assets and resources, improve service delivery reliability, ensure compliance and good governance, and protect the interests of BCRM residents.

We thank Provincial Treasury for their expert facilitation, Sarah Baartman District for the support and all BCRM officials who participated actively in this important exercise.
