Due to the current bad weather conditions, the municipality is experiencing a high volume of electricity-related complaints.

Technical teams are attending to reported faults and working to restore electricity supply as quickly and safely as possible.

Residents are kindly requested to be patient and allow the teams sufficient time to attend to all reported faults.

*Street Lights on at Mbonani Mayisela Street*

The Lekwa local municipality’s electrical department has successfully repaired the faulty street lights along Mbonani Mayisela Street, improving visibility and safety for motorists, pedestrians and residents in the area.

The repairs form part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve public lighting infrastructure across the municipality.

The municipality strongly condemns the vandalism and theft of municipal infrastructure, including street lights and electrical equipment.

Vandalism and cable theft negatively affect the functionality of the street lighting infrastructure in various parts of the municipality.

Residents are encouraged to help protect municipal infrastructure and report any faulty or vandalised street lights to the Lekwa Local Municipality Customer Care Line on 017 712 5458.

*Update on the repairs of power at the Standerton Water Treatment Plant that affected the water supply to wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 9, 10, 11 and 15*

The power has been restored at the treatment plant.

The community is urged to be patient, while the water network is stabilizing.

*WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION*

Please note that there is a power outage at the Standerton Water Treatment Plant affecting water supply to wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 15.

The municipality will update on the progress of the repairs.

*Update on the water supply interruption that affected Wards 8, 9 (Ext 8) and 10*

The repair of the Concor Rising Main is complete, the Concor pump station has resumed pumping.

The community is urged to be patient while the network stabilizes.

*Electricity Supply Interruption*

Please be informed that, due to strong winds, the power lines are experiencing constant tripping on the farm lines (R and V Lines) as well as Extension 4.

To prevent damage on the conductors, the municipality will only restore the power supply once the wind has subsided.

The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and urges affected residents to remain patient and treat all electrical as live at all times.

The repair of the faulty cable at Concor pump station is complete.

The team is repairing the water leak on the Concor Rising Main.

Water supply to wards 8, 9 (Ext 8) and ward 10 are affected.

The municipality will provide updates on the progress of the repair.

Please note that there's an electrical fault at Concor pump station affecting power supply to the raw water abstraction and dosing systems.

There's also a pipe burst on the Concor rising main.

As a result, water supply to wards 1 to 11 and 15 is affected.

The teams are attending to the problems.

The municipality will provide updates on the progress of the repairs.
