Taalmonument, munisipaliteit en trust borg weer gesogte toekennings

Die Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument (ATM), Kaapse Wynland-distriksmunisipaliteit (KWDM) en Historium Trust is verheug om die vyfde Fenomenale Vroue-toekennings aan te kondig. Hierdie toonaangewende jaarlikse geleentheid sal die merkwaardige prestasies van die ongelooflike vroue in ons gemeenskap vier.

Die versoek om benoemings is nou oop en ons nooi die publiek om onbesonge heldinne wat inspirerende bydraes tot die Kaapse Wynland-gemeenskappe maak, te nomineer. INSKRYWINGS IS GRATIS EN SLUIT OP DINSDAG 21 JULIE 2026 OM 16:00.

Die beoordeling sal in Augustus deur ’n paneel vooraanstaande vroue behartig word waarna die toekenningseremonie op Dinsdag 25 Augustus 2026 beloof om weereens ’n hoogtepunt van Vrouemaand te wees. Op die glansgeleentheid sal die uitsonderlike prestasies van vroue wat hul gemeenskappe geïnspireer en ander gemotiveer het om na uitnemendheid te streef, erken en gevier word.

Die Fenomenale Vroue-toekennings se doel is om toekomstige geslagte met hoop en bemagtiging te vervul en te bewys dat daar geen perke is aan wat vroue kan bereik nie. Die gemeenskap word aangemoedig om deel te neem aan die erkenning van hierdie uitsonderlike vroue, ongeag hul agtergrond, en hul besonderse reise.

Vanjaar se geleentheid vind boonop plaas in dieselfde jaar wat die land die aanvaarding van Suid-Afrika se grondwet 30 jaar gelede (1996) vier, die Soweto-opstande van 50 jaar gelede (1976) herdenk en 70 jaar gelede (1956) se historiese vroue-optog op Vrouedag eer. Op dié manier bring dit plaaslik hulde aan vroue se rol in die bevordering van menseregte, gelykheid en gemeenskapsontwikkeling.

Die 10 kategorieë is: Landbou, Vroeëkinderontwikkeling, Basiese Onderwys, NRO-/GOW-sektor, Entrepreneur, Ondersteuning, Bestuur, Passie, Bevordering van Afrikaans/veeltaligheid asook Gestremdhede. Kategoriebeskrywings en bepalings en voorwaardes by capewinelands.gov.za.

Benoemingsvorms kan op die KWDM-webtuiste by capewinelands.gov.za aanlyn ingevul en afgelaai word, of fisiek by enige KWDM-kantoor of die Historium Trust in Pastorielaan, Paarl, afgehaal word. Jy kan ook die vorm ontvang deur ’n WhatsApp-boodskap met die teks ‘Fenomenale Vroue’ na 076 017 6026 te stuur. Voltooide vorms moet teen DINSDAG 21 JULIE 2026 OM 16:00 per e-pos na [email protected] of per WhatsApp na 076 017 6026 gestuur word. Dit kan ook fisiek by die Historium Trust of enige KWDM-kantoor ingehandig word.

Taalmonument, municipality and trust again to sponsor sought-after awards

The Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument (ATM), Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) and Historium Trust are delighted to announce the fifth Phenomenal Women Awards. This leading annual event will celebrate the remarkable achievements of the incredible women in our community.

The call for nominations is now open and we invite the public to nominate unsung heroes who are making inspiring contributions to the Cape Winelands communities. ENTRIES ARE FREE AND CLOSE ON TUESDAY, 21 JULY 2026, AT 16:00.

The judging will be conducted by a panel of leading women in August, after which the awards ceremony on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, promises to be a highlight of Women’s Month once again. The gala event will recognise and celebrate the exceptional achievements of women who have inspired their communities and motivated others to strive for excellence.

The Phenomenal Women Awards aim to fill future generations with hope and empowerment, and prove that there are no limits to what women can achieve. The community is encouraged to participate in recognising these exceptional women, regardless of their backgrounds, and their extraordinary journeys.

This year's event also takes place in the same year that the country celebrates the adoption of South Africa's constitution 30 years ago (1996), commemorates the Soweto uprisings 50 years ago (1976), and honours the historic women's march on Women's Day 70 years ago (1956). In this way, it pays tribute locally to women's role in advancing human rights, equality and community development.

The 10 categories are: Agriculture, Early Childhood Development, Basic Education, NGO/CDW Sector, Entrepreneur, Support, Management, Passion, Promotion of Afrikaans/multilingualism as well as Disabilities. Category descriptions and terms and conditions at capewinelands.gov.za.

Nomination forms can be completed and downloaded online from the CWDM website at capewinelands.gov.za or collected from any CWDM office or the Historium Trust in Pastorie Avenue, Paarl. You can also receive the form by sending a WhatsApp message with the text ‘Phenomenal Women’ to 076 017 6026. Completed forms must be sent by email to [email protected] or by WhatsApp to 076 017 6026 by TUESDAY, 21 JULY 2026, AT 16:00. It can also be physically submitted at the Historium Trust or any CWDM office.

Budget Unanimously Endorsed

Our Full Council has officially and unanimously adopted the Medium-Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework (MTREF) budget for the 2026/2027 to 2028/2029 financial years.This total political consensus ensures absolute alignment as we drive service delivery and community growth across the Cape Winelands.
