As you wander through Birds of Eden, you’ll find quiet places to sit, take a breath and simply enjoy the rainforest around you.Take your time. Sit quietly. Listen to the sounds of the forest and keep your eyes open. A bird may appear in the trees, land nearby or reveal itself amongst the leaves when you least expect it.There’s no need to rush through the forest. Sometimes, the most special moments happen when you simply stop and wait.

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗱-𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗿𝗲?

These colourful parrots are more than just a beautiful splash of green and red in the rainforest.
Red-Masked Conures are highly social birds, and they have a lovely way of strengthening their bonds — by grooming each other’s feathers.
This behaviour, known as allopreening, usually involves birds gently grooming the feathers around each other’s head and neck. It helps keep their plumage in good condition while also building trust and strengthening their relationships. Native to the forests of Ecuador and Peru, these playful parrots show us that a little grooming and affection can go a long way.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆?

At Birds of Eden, our birds are here to be observed, admired and respected — not handled.
We ask our visitors not to pick up or touch the birds, even if one happens to land on you. And if a curious bird does choose your shoulder as its temporary perch, please gently encourage it to move along rather than keeping it there for selfies or extended interaction.
Giving our birds the freedom to move on naturally helps support their instincts and allows them to enjoy a wilder, more independent existence. Sometimes, the most special wildlife encounter is the one where you simply stop, watch and let the animal be itself.
