Concerned...

Last night our ambulances was threatened and blocked form servicing medical emergencies in the Ekangala area in the Tshwane district.

This despicable action by protesters denied the community at large from live saving services.

Gauteng EMS again humbly appeal to our communities too take ownership of these actions and to protect these scares and live saving services offered on only one condition and that is the safety of our staff and resources.

❗️HEALTH WARNING❗️

Residents cautioned against making use of water from Inanda Dam.

The City would like to caution residents against making use of water from the Inanda Dam after reports that the large spill of Caustic Soda from the Msundusi River has worked its way downstream into the dam.

Caustic Soda is a very alkaline material and is therefore corrosive. Residents upstream of the dam and in the dam surroundings are advised not to expose themselves to the water in the river nor should they allow livestock to drink such water until further notice.

Residents will be advised accordingly when the spill has been contained.

Last night an ambulance crew was attending a critically ill elderly female patient in the Winterveld area.
Whilst busy rendering medical care and life support they were interrupted by criminals brandishing a gun and then robbed of all their valuables.

This cowardly act by common criminals not only prevented further treatment to be rendered to the patient but withheld her from receiving timeous critical care she required at a hospital.

The crew was not injured but severely traumatized and the ambulance had to be stood down for the rest of the night, this would have meant that all subsequent emergency calls in the area would have been delayed due to this despicable act.

Gauteng Emergency medical services would like to make a humble appeal to the communities we serve to come forward with information regarding the incident and to take a stand against criminal elements within your communities who threaten to interrupt lifesaving services to be provided.
