A 4am departure and a determination not to miss the start of Ironman meant I left home in a bit of a rush and only realised I was still in my slippers when I was far too committed to the journey to turn back.

The athletes may have completed an Ironman, but I reckon I won the unofficial prize for Most Comfortable Shoes of the Day. 🏆🩴

Not all heroes wear takkies. 😆

⚡️ DURBAN IRONMAN 70.3 DONE & DUSTED! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

What an electric day on the Durban coast! Our athletes gave it their absolute all, and the results are mind-blowing:

⏱️ Kyle smashed his first-ever Ironman with a sub-6 hour finish of 5hr 57min!
⏱️ Ansa whacked a massive 19 minutes off her previous time, finishing in a brilliant 6hr 20min!

Our supporters were out in full force, cheering with sheer delight! Best of all, every step was to raise vital awareness and funds for the children at iKhaya LikaBaba 💙

The excitement continues next Sunday as Matt and Mthokozisi tackle the legendary Comrades Marathon! 🏃‍♂️⛰️

It feels like just yesterday you were a cute little girl, and now we are watching you grow into the beautiful young lady you are today. 💖 We are so proud of the person you are becoming.

Milestones like this remind us how incredibly blessed we are. Having the wonderful support of our community, with thoughtful gifts and such a stunning cake, makes these birthdays something our children look forward to with so much anticipation. 🎂✨

Creating Capable Kids💛🐶🌟

At iKhaya, we believe that protecting a child means preparing them for tomorrow.
Skills training is one of the most powerful ways we do that, to help our children grow into capable, confident, and self‑supporting young adults.

From sewing and cooking to sports, creative arts, Actionball, self-defense and other life skills like swimming, every lesson builds independence, resilience, and hope. These activities are steppingstones toward dignity and opportunity.

When a child learns a skill, they a technique, gain confidence, problem‑solving skills, creativity, and the belief that they can shape their own future. 💛✨

Thank you to every volunteer, teacher, partner, and friend who invests time and heart into helping our children grow. Together, we are building futures that are strong, skilled, and full of possibility. 🙏💙

Child protection is a community effort.

Every volunteer, donor, and friend helps us create a safer world for vulnerable children. Thank you for standing with us.

Over the years, we’ve been blessed with more than 65 medium‑ to long‑term international volunteers who have lived on‑site, dedicating their time, skills, and hearts to sow love and make a lasting difference.

Annually up to 10 local schools partner with us through community service, alongside many generous companies and volunteers who donate goods, share meals, provide entertainment, play sports, and teach valuable skills to our children.

Together, we are building safety, dignity, and hope, one act of kindness at a time. 💛
