Tlokwe - Ventersdorp Amalgamation Tlokwe - Ventersdorp Amalgamation The MDB final decision was published in the Provincial Gazette on 25 August 2015.

The Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) Circular 19/2015 announced that the MDB had concluded the re – determination of municipal boundaries in terms of Section 21 of the Local Government Municipal Demarcation Act of 1998. This was followed by the IEC publishing its views in the Provincial Gazette on 27 August 2015. After the publication in the Provincial Gazette the citizenry was allowed to submit objections over a 30 day period for the MDB to consider and whereupon it would either confirm, vary or withdraw its determination as required by law. On 8 September 2015 the MEC also published in the Provincial Gazette the number of wards and councilors the merger would result in, i.e. 34 wards and 67 councilors in all. This announcement was meant to allow the affected municipalities to start consulting their local stakeholders with regard to what voting districts should be included in each ward. All the MDB circulars were published widely in the media and forwarded to all government institutions for distribution as wide as is possible. In face book we aim to keep you updated and engage on how the process is unfolding
