Can't find skilled staff? Let's train them together.
Northern Cape Rural TVET College is setting up an Industry Advisory Board at each of our five campuses — Upington, Kathu, Kuruman, Namaqualand and De Aar. It is a table where local employers sit down with their nearest campus twice a year and say plainly what skills the area is short of, and where our students still fall short of what you would expect on your floor.

The ask can be small. One conversation about what your sector needs. Half an hour talking to a class. Letting a group walk through your workplace with their lecturer. There is no fee, nothing to sign, and you are never expected to employ anyone.

Two minutes to put your organisation forward, and the campus nearest you will be in touch within seven working days.

The hall was full at our Upington Campus. 🧡

SAPCO and the Services SETA brought their roadshow to NCR TVET, and our students got the kind of talk you don't get from a textbook — where the real opportunities are, what employers are actually looking for, and how to go and take it.

Thank you to the SAPCO and Services SETA teams for making the trip to the Northern Cape. Our students showed up, listened, and asked good questions.

Thank you, Kgolo Community Development Trust.

R300 000 worth of textbooks arrived at our Kuruman Campus, and they are already doing the job they came here to do.

Ask any TVET student what a textbook is worth. It is the difference between borrowing someone else's copy for an hour and being able to sit down on a Sunday afternoon and work through the thing properly. It is the difference between a lecturer explaining something once and a student going home to read it again.

Accepting the donation on behalf of the campus were Mr W***y Delie, Deputy Principal: Corporate Services, and Mr Leon Foutie, Campus Manager at Kuruman.

The Kgolo Community Development Trust serves the communities of Joe Morolong and the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, with education as one of its four focus areas. Those are the same villages our Kuruman students go home to on a Friday. So this is not help from somewhere far away. This is a community putting money behind its own young people.

Waiting for a National N Diploma? The form also asks about your workplace experience and whether you handed in your logbook and supporting documents - that is usually where these cases get stuck, so please answer those questions as fully as you can.

It takes about three minutes. Please give us accurate information, especially roughly when you completed your studies and, for diplomas, when you submitted your logbook. The more detail you give us, the faster we can find your record.

You will get a reference number at the end. Save it - quote it whenever you contact us about your case.
