Official Statement
We are aware of several posts currently circulating on various Facebook community groups regarding a private patient transportation carried out by Resq Medix Ambulance Service on 16 July 2026. As these posts contain inaccurate and misleading information, we believe it is important to provide the factual circumstances surrounding this incident.
On 16 July 2026, Resq Medix Ambulance Service received a request for the private medical transportation of a 60-year-old female patient diagnosed with cancer. The family requested that she be transported from her private residence to Karl Bremer Provincial Hospital for further medical care.
As Resq Medix is a private medical transportation service, the family was provided with a quotation for the requested service. The quotation was accepted, and the necessary payment was made prior to the transport.
Upon arrival, our crew conducted an assessment of the environment and found that there was no safe access for a stretcher to reach the patient from her residence to the ambulance. After carefully evaluating the available options, our crew made the professional decision to use a blanket carry to safely move the patient to the ambulance.
While this is not our preferred or standard method of patient movement, it is a recognised technique that may be utilised when environmental conditions prevent the use of a stretcher. Throughout the process, our crew exercised the utmost care, compassion, and professionalism to minimise discomfort and ensure the patientβs dignity and safety remained our highest priority.
The patient was then transported safely to Karl Bremer Provincial Hospital, where she was handed over to the receiving medical team for continued care.
At Resq Medix Ambulance Service, we understand that emotions often run high during medical emergencies, and we sincerely empathise with families facing such difficult circumstances. However, we respectfully ask that the public refrain from sharing or commenting on unverified information, as this can cause unnecessary distress and unfairly damage the reputation of healthcare professionals who dedicate themselves to serving their communities.
We remain committed to providing safe, ethical, and compassionate patient care at all times and stand by the professionalism of our crew in managing this challenging situation.
We thank our community for their continued trust and support.
