Dwesa Nature Reserve THE EASTERN CAPE NATURE RESERVES IN SOUTH AFRICA

Welcome to Eastern Cape Parks! All of the reserves featured here, offer nature at its most splendid.

Dwesa Nature Reserve is a wonderful private beach which is surrounded by amazing sites ranging from; Ocean views, lagoons, trees, savanna grasslands and a wide variety of animals. Eastern Cape is one of South Africa's leading nature and conservation based tourism destinations, offering a wealth of game viewing, diverse scenic beauty. The nature reserves managed by Eastern Cape Parks cover an area

of some 438,000 hectares. A commitment to protecting bio-diversity and conservation of the biomes, will see a total increase of this area by 10,000 hectares annually; the eradication of non-indigenous flora and fauna; mutually beneficial relationships with neighbouring communities and the preservation of cultural resources. Accommodation in our reserves ranges from luxurious lodges and renovated classic Cape-style farm homesteads to wooden chalets, rustic cabins, bungalows and hikers huts. Picnic and camping sites are available at selected reserves. This, the second largest of South Africa's nine provinces, supports landscapes ranging from the dry, desolate, Great Karoo to the steamy forests of the Wild Coast and the Keiskamma Valley. The shoreline of this province extends from the Umtamvuna River in KwaZulu-Natal, to the Storms River mouth on the scenic Garden Route. The Eastern Cape is the only province that contains all three of South Africa's global biodiversity hotspots - the Cape Floristic Region, Succulent Karoo and Maputoland-Pondoland-Albany. It also incorporates portions of all seven ecological zones, or biomes, which occur in South Africa. This tremendous diversity of climate and the fact that the Eastern Cape also enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine per year allows for a vast range of activities. Eastern Cape Parks made a promise - WE PROMISE THE EARTH - an undertaking to ensure responsible conservation management and utilisation of the natural resources within the Eastern Cape's protected areas in a manner that promotes broad community involvement and upholds the principles of custodianship, sustainability and excellence in all activities.

Dwesa/Cwebe Nature Reserve's Local Tour Guide Mr Vuyani Jamce...He is doing an amazing job in keeping the Guests busy, happy with his Bird watching walks, game drives and also walks in the neighbouring villages (Food tasting, Bead-works etc). He is very informative when it comes to the wide variety of Bird species and animals found in the Park as well as the history of the area. He also goes beyond Dwesa/Cwebe Nature Reserve as far as The Hole in the Wall in Coffee Bay, Mazeppa Bay.
