On 10 June 2026, the GCIS, together with the OTP through the Thusong Services were at Zastron, Motheo TVET College for a Voter Registration awareness. This was to educate, inform, and encourage youth participation in the upcoming Local Government Elections, which will be taking place on 4 November 2026. The awareness was a success as students got to learn the importance of elections and democracy.

Today, on the 20th of March 2026, the Government Communications and Information System (GCIS) held a Human Rights Month Dialogue with the students of Motheo Tvet College in Zastron.

Various departments engaged with students on key issues which included amongst others; sharing key messages on Human rights, labour rights and access to government services.

Students actively participated, making the session informative and impactful.

The Thusong Service Centre Management would like to inform the general public, in particular the community of Zastron about the changes as it pertains to the Zastron based Department of Social Development Social workers.

The Department of Social Development Social workers that are servicing the area of Zastron will now be operating from the Thusong Service Centre (MPCC), effective from the 24th of February 2026.
Services will be rendered every Tuesday and Thursday.

📢 2026 Free State Provincial Government Bursary Applications still Open.

The Free State Provincial Government invites unemployed youth (18–35), current Grade 12 learners, and students already accepted or enrolled at a Higher Education Institution to apply for the 2026 Full-Time Bursary Programme.

This bursary supports qualifying candidates to pursue studies at recognised Higher Education Institutions for the 2026 academic year.
