OUR GOAL: Shift Sorghum and Millets from subsistence crops to value-added cash crops. Main Objectives:
Develop sorghum varieties and hybrids with improved quality traits for food, feed and fuel. Develop high yielding resilient sorghum varieties and hybrids that are widely adapted
Enhance disease and pest resistance with improved germplasm and elite lines. Specific Objectives:
Enhance Food and F

eed Quality-Nutrition value, Malting quality, Sugar % and Forage quality
Enhance Abiotic Stress Tolerance [climate smart crops]-Soil Acidity, Drought, Waterlogging, Cold, Heat etc
Enhance Biotic Stress Tolerance-Pests and Diseases. Collaborative Activities:
Technical support to other research and training institutions within and outside Zambia
Technical support to industries involved in sorghum processing [value addition]
Technical support to information dissemination
Technical support to farmers
