Chikankata Town Council, through the Engineering and Planning Departments, has engaged Chairpersons and Secretaries of Ward Development Committees (WDCs) in a Community Projects Feedback Meeting held in the Council Chamber, at the New Government Complex.
The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to review the progress of the 2025 CDF-funded projects, share updates on ongoing community interventions, and discuss plans for community-based projects for 2026.
Discussions also highlighted challenges encountered in project implementation and provided an opportunity for the Council and WDC representatives to strengthen coordination in addressing community development needs.
Looking forward to submission and selection of 2027 CDF projects, WDCs were encouraged to ensure that proposed projects are holistic, evidence-based and responsive to the broader needs of their communities.
In particular, project selection should:
โข Consider the needs of the entire zone, rather than isolated interests.
โข Engage relevant stakeholders during project identification and planning.
โข Align proposed interventions with Government development priorities.
The engagement reaffirms the Council's commitment to participatory, inclusive and accountable community development, with WDCs playing an important role in ensuring that development priorities identified at community level translate into meaningful and sustainable interventions.
