CHILUBI DISTRICT CHEERS TWELVE (12) CDF PROJECTS COMMISSIONED WORTH K18.6 MILLION
Community members in Chaba on Friday, 22nd May 2026, witnessed the commissioning of twelve community development projects implemented under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) at the mainland of Chilubi District at a total cost of K18,603,966.54.
The event was officiated by District Commissioner Risto Mushembe and attended by His Royal Highness Chief Chiwanangala, Provincial Director of Finance Mr. Benjamin Makumba, Assistant Director Mr. Christopher Bwalya, Provincial Local Government Officer Mr. Alfred Nyambose, Provincial Engineer Eng. James Musonda, members of the provincial team, district heads of departments, and members of the community.
The commissioned projects comprised five earth-moving machines and seven classroom infrastructure projects funded under the Constituency Development Fund allocation.
The earth-moving equipment, procured at a total cost of K13,920,210.54, included a Tractor Loader Backhoe (TLB), a grader, an excavator, and two roller compactors. The machinery is expected to significantly improve feeder road rehabilitation and maintenance across both the mainland and island parts of the district.
The seven classroom infrastructure projects commissioned at a total cost of K4,683,747.10 included the construction and rehabilitation of classroom blocks in various wards. These projects included the construction of classroom blocks at Kasanda, Mumbebwe Primary School, Chitupila, Kashimwe Community School, and Fube Secondary School, as well as rehabilitation works at Bulilo and Kanshishe schools.
Speaking during the ceremony, District Commissioner Mr. Risto Mushembe praised the Government for its continued commitment to taking development closer to the people through the enhanced Constituency Development Fund. He noted that the projects would improve service delivery and uplift the welfare of communities in the district. He stressed that the assets belong to the people of Chilubi and must be safeguarded and utilised responsibly for the benefit of the community.
Speaking at the same event, Chief Chiwanangala thanked the New Dawn Government under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema for increasing the people-driven Constituency Development Fund, which continues to transform communities through improved infrastructure and development initiatives.
Chief Chiwanangala further urged residents across the district to maintain peace and unity during the ongoing election period. He emphasized the importance of coexisting peacefully despite political differences, adding that the people of Chilubi remain one community with shared aspirations for development.
The commissioning ceremony marked another significant milestone in the district’s development agenda and highlighted the Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, education, and accessibility in rural communities through the Constituency Development Fund.
