HANAKAMBA BRIGHT GETS MAYORAL SEAT FOR LIVINGSTONE
The United Party for National Development candidate, Bright Hanakamba is the new Mayor for the Tourist Capital of Zambia after winning the 2026 mayoral election.
Mr Hanakamba polled 39,185 votes against his closest rival George Imasiku who got 7, 835 votes, and Benson Kayuma, the Independent candidate came third with 1, 970 votes.
Mr Hanakamba was declared the duly elected Mayor of Livingstone City by the Returning Officer, Ms Sombo Kawilila on Saturday night.
A total of 49,645 votes were cast in the mayoral election, with 646 ballot papers rejected as invalid.
The results were officially announced at the Livingstone Central totalling centre, Civic Centre on August 15, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Livingstone Central National Assembly seat went to Gracious Mayangwa of UPND who got 18, 390 votes against his closest competitor, Chilufya Mwewa of the NRPUP who got 4, 026 votes.
And Yvonne Kabba of UPND defeated Namakau Muyangana, Independence, to be the Member of Parliament for the newly created Maramba Constituency.
Yvonne Kabba got 15, 262 votes while Namakau got 8, 520.
And all the 20 wards seats for Livingstone district have gone to the UPND, two of which went unopposed during nominations.
