Statutory Mandate:

The Zambia Police Service is charged with the responsibility of enforcing the law against all forms of crime and disorder so as to maintain peace and order throughout the country as provided for under the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia Chapter 1 and the Zambia Police Act Chapter 107 of the Laws of Zambia. D) Detect and prevent crime

G4S OFFICERS COMPLETE SPECIALISED FI****MS TRAINING

Sixteen officers from G4S Security Company have successfully completed a one-week specialised fi****ms handling and armourer's course at the Zambia Police Training College in Lusaka .

The training aimed at enhancing their competence in the safe handling, maintenance, inspection and management of fi****ms.

Speaking during the closing ceremony held on August 1,2026, Assistant Director Police Intelligence, Assistant Commissioner of Police representing Acting Division Commander Ms. Getrude Namonje, commended the officers for the discipline, commitment and professionalism they demonstrated throughout the training.

"I am truly pleased to witness the successful completion of a programme that has demanded discipline, commitment, technical skill and a high sense of responsibility from all participants," she said.

She emphasised that fi****ms are critical tools in ensuring security, law enforcement and national protection, adding that their management and maintenance require the highest levels of competence, accountability and adherence to safety standards.

Ms.Namonje urged the participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course with professionalism, integrity and responsibility in the ex*****on of their duties.

The successful completion of the programme underscores the Zambia Police Service's continued commitment to strengthening capacity within the private security sector through quality training and professional development.

POLICE, ECZ INTENSIFY VOTER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN LUSAKA

The Zambia Police Service Nkwazi Theatre Club, in conjunction with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), has intensified its voter awareness campaign across Lusaka Province as the country counts down to the General Elections slated for 13th August 2026.

The campaign is targeting some of Lusaka's most densely populated compounds, where the Zambia Police Service Nkwazi Theatre Club and the Electoral Commission of Zambia are equipping citizens with the knowledge they need to participate in the electoral process responsibly while promoting peaceful, free and fair elections.

Through drama, music, poetry and interactive community skits, the team is delivering key messages on the importance of voting, civic responsibility and electoral laws. Members of the public are also being sensitised on electoral-related offences and encouraged to refrain from acts of violence, intimidation, hate speech and other criminal activities that have the potential to undermine the democratic process.

The campaign also seeks to assure members of the public of the Zambia Police Service's commitment to maintaining law and order and providing adequate security before, during and after the elections. Citizens are further being encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting incidents of violence and other unlawful acts to help ensure a peaceful electoral environment.

So far, the campaign has reached Jack Compound, Chawama and the surrounding areas, where performances have attracted large crowds of residents, traders and commuters. Community members have actively engaged with officers from the Zambia Police Service and officials from the Electoral Commission of Zambia, receiving vital information on their rights, responsibilities and the importance of participating peacefully in the electoral process.

The Zambia Police Service and the Electoral Commission of Zambia remain committed to ensuring that every eligible citizen has access to accurate electoral information, appreciates the importance of peaceful participation and is empowered to exercise their constitutional right to vote in a safe, secure and orderly environment.

SECRETARY TO THE CABINET COMMENDS ZAMBIA POLICE

The Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr. Patrick Kangwa, has commended the Zambia Police Service for its commitment, diligence and exemplary service during a visit to the Police stand at the 98th Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show.

Mr.Kangwa toured the stand on August 1, 2026, and expressed satisfaction with the operations and services being showcased by the Zambia Police Service.

He described policing as a noble calling that requires discipline, integrity and selfless service, and encouraged officers to continue serving the people of Zambia wholeheartedly.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Mr. Dickson Matembo, today led a delegation from the Ministry on a familiarization tour of the Zambia Police Service exhibition stand at the ongoing 98th Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show.

Mr. Matembo commended officers for their professionalism, discipline, and impressive exhibition displays.

The visit provided him and his delegation with an opportunity to appreciate the Zambia Police Service's operations, the range of services it offers to the public, and the initiatives being showcased during this year's exhibition.

Deputy Inspector General of Police - Administration, Ms. Charity Munganga, this afternoon toured the Zambia Police Service exhibition stand at the ongoing 98th Agricultural and Commercial Show to interact with officers and appreciate their commitment.

The 98th Agricultural and Commercial Show is being held under the theme _“Fostering Trade and Investment”_ and has drawn exhibitors from various sectors showcasing products, services and innovations aimed at promoting economic growth and national development.

During the visit, Ms. Munganga inspected the Zambia Police Service displays and engaged officers from all sections participating in the exhibition. She commended them for the professional manner in which they were executing their duties.

“The dedication, discipline and turnout we have seen here reflect very positively on the Zambia Police Service,” Ms. Munganga said.

She noted that the exhibition provides an important platform for the Service to strengthen public confidence by showcasing its mandate and commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for citizens, businesses and investors.
